Disappointed     On: 2010-07-16

After many years of my 2 doxies riding in their blue Happy Trails stroller, the wheels became worn. I ordered a new Happy Trails stroller in blue, which I immediately returned. Evidently the Happy Trails stroller has been redesigned and made smaller with smaller wheels. Why? Not only that, but the only other 4 wheeled stroller with the larger wheels (Jeep Wrangler) was discontinued. There is now no 4 wheeled stroller for pets with wheels larger than 6.5". As stroller people know, the larger the wheel, the easier to push and 4 wheels are much easier than the 3 wheels to control, not to mention more compact. I am very disappointed in Pet Gear for not producing a replacement for either the Jeep Wrangler nor the larger Happy Trail model.....The Pink Plus is also not as big. With all the good reviews for these strollers, I cant imagine why the downsize. I now have to buy new wheels for old stroller...Pet Gear would have made more money by me buying whole stroller.
Mostly Good News     On: 2010-05-17

We bought this stroller for our pet Maine Coon cat. At 15 lbs, hes larger than some small dogs, so we needed a sturdy stroller to take him on our outings with our black lab. By and large this product performs well on smooth pavement. The wheels are good, the folding operates very well (from trunk to rolling in less than a minute), and the rear wheel locks are handy. Overall this is a good unit. I did not give it 5 stars for the following minor points:

1. The zipper is hard to get started. Once its engaged, the mesh is taught over the front of the pet compartment, but that tightness of the mesh makes it somewhat cumbersome to get the zipper started. I love that the front opens completely, so its easy to access the pet compartment, but I have to get it half zipped to load the cat into the stroller and then zip it fully before the cat escapes. It usually takes me long to get the zipper started than to get the stroller out of the trunk and snap it into rolling position.

2. The cup tray is not level with the ground when fully assembled. This is a clear design flaw. My car travel mug always tips and spills. This feature was not part of our purchasing decision, but it would have been easy to get the alignment right.

3. Those bogus ribbed rubber sleeves that cover the legs of the stroller just above the front wheels appear to be flexible to accommodate a shock-absorbing (or at least flexible) attachment of the strollers frame to the front wheels. In fact the sleeves are just for show. The front wheel are mounted on the ends of an axle that passes thru small holes in the strollers frame. For my money, this is deceptive packaging.

Bottom line: good unit at a good price for paved strolls.

Pet stroller solves problem     On: 2010-05-14

We are caring for a dachshund that recently had back surgery and cant walk on his own. However, we have two other dogs who want to go for walks and the injured dog wants to go with them. The pet stroller enables us to take him with us and all three dogs are happy. It was easy to assemble (no thanks to the instructions, which were incomplete) and seems hardy enough for paved paths and some paths in the woods. The dog bounces up and down in the stroller at times, but it seems to be able to take it. This dog is about 20 pounds.
Dangerous for more than one reason     On: 2010-05-13

Please look for a stroller that isnt going to tip over with your pet in it and also one that has reflective material on it. Your pet could easily roll into a street inadvertently at night. It has happened to me, and I am glad my stroller had reflective strips on it. Kyjen Outward Hound Walk n Roll Pet Stroller, Navy Blue
Works Great     On: 2010-03-26

I am reviewing this product because I am extremely happy with its durability. I like the canvas material that makes up the cloth part of the buggy. It moves with ease and the shock absorbors on the front wheels help it to go over surfaces easily. I like having both a front zipper and back zipper entrance. The cushioned handle is comfortable to hold. It is large enough to hold both my year old kittens with ease. The mesh holder on the bottom is a big help when we go out to get the mail. It was easy to assemble. There is enough mesh to allow the kittens to look out in all directions. I like the mesh on the top so I can see inside to see how they are doing. It provides an openness and connection to the outside world. I needed to go walking and now I go out everyday for a walk with the kittens in my buggy. The mesh holds up even under kitten scratching on it.

The only concern that I have is that one of the closings of the zipper does not fit into the fastener and lock as tight as Id like. I simply use the back zipper so that I dont have to completely undo the front zipper.

This stroller is tremendous for my long-hair chihuahuas. the two little ones can wrestle to their hearts content, plenty of room and no issues with balance. Occasionally we double the weight and add in the 7 pound older dog, and everyone travels happily, wherever we want to go. Its light, sturdy, and folds up quickly and easily. I bought the stroller from JustPetStrollers.com for around $80,no shipping, instead of $110 at Amazon, and bought the rain cover from Amazon for $15 instead of $30 at justpetstrollers. Theres mulitple zipper openings for easy access and egress, and a screen at the top to look thru to check on things. I am delighted that I decided to indulge in this stroller.
Defective manufacturing     On: 2009-07-14

After spending at least an hour trying to make sense of the terrible instructions and finally assembling the Happy Trails Pet Gear stroller, I discovered a major defect in the front wheel assembly. The left side of the frame where the double wheels connect did not fit snugly, causing the combination wheel on that side to spin around wildly as you pushed the stroller forward.

The right side was not loose and, hence, did not spin but went in a straight line except when one was moving off at an angle.

Im not sure what to do at this point. One of the front wheels spins as the stroller moves forward, causing misalignment as well, as sometimes it is behind the other front double-wheel, causing drag, inefficiency, and wear.

Something is wrong when the parts dont fit and you are supposed to assemble the product yourself. Surely the company can manufacturer the various parts to exact specifications! In this case, the tube of the leg in the frame does not not match the corresponding groove of the in the wheel set.

Unfortunately, there doesnt appear to be any warranty. If I had known I would have this problem, I would not have purchased this product at all. Something like this should not happen. Period.
GREAT PRODUCT!!!     On: 2009-07-01

I looked at one of the strollers that say "up to 20 lbs" in a local pet store. It was $20 cheaper than this one, but could not begin to compare in quality. The handle is a good height and has 2 sturdy cup holders. The basket on the bottom is big and constructed to make it easy to get into it. I have a 13 lb. ShihTzu and he loves it, theres plenty of room for him to lie down. I would recommend this to anyone with a small dog or cat.
Outdoor Cat Safety Wins!     On: 2009-05-11

The stroller for my cats is great. I take it outside when Im gardening in the yard, and they can hear the birds and watch the squirrels without my worrying theyll run away. We also have large hawks in the area and that was always another concern as one is very small. I tried a leash early on, but they feared the outdoors too much. I hope to use this as a training method as well to get them more used to the outdoors and then try the leash method as well.
Stroller gives you keys to the city...     On: 2008-09-13

No need to go to Europe to enjoy access to restaurants and shops with your pet. My original motivation was to be able to walk with my dog, a Jack Russell Terrier who lost a leg to cancer. We used to walk miles and hours together. Shes still very mobile and agile but cant walk comfortably more than 40 minutes.

I was visiting Boston and was dreading having to carry her in a dog sling or in her case on an airport wheelie. I saw this on sale at Petsmart ($69).

She loved it, I left the front screen unzipped and she rested her head on it as she lounged, riding in comfort.

The best surprise perk--when the screen is zipped, I can bring her into restaurants, Starbucks, and the supermarket. Many shops didnt mind the screen unzipped. It was like having a key to the city, we could go every where and anywhere. No being tied up outside with me worrying that some kook might take her or do something to her.

Im tall and I was worried maybe the handle wouldnt be high enough, but it is, I can comfortably stride out when walking. Its also a quiet smooth ride. You can load it up with your shopping, the cup holder is solid and handy.

Its solid and well made.

Two wish list items if anyone from the company is reading this:
1. Hook to hang your purse off the parent tray.
2. Hook to snap safety lead so that you can walk around with screen open.

If you like to walk, tour, dine out, with your furry companion this is money well spent. I wish I found this years ago.

Kitten heaven!     On: 2008-09-12

I have four kittens and they love this stroller! They look forward to their daily walk everyday. They jump up into the stroller as if it say "lets go". They sit and watch and smell the smells outside. They are all indoor kittens and they are so pleased to be able to get outside and enjoy some fresh air on nice days. At first I thought that this was too much money to spend on a pet stroller, but I researched others and this was a great deal! I am so happy that I bought this. It is really the greatest gift I have given my kittens so far! It even helps me get my exercise which is great:)
A word of caution     On: 2008-09-02

We went shopping for a stroller for our handicapped dog this weekend and they had two on display, the one listed here and this one: Pet Gear All-Terrain 3-Wheel 60-Pound-Capacity Pet Stroller, Red Poppy (also for sale on Amazon). I put Mickey in the Happy Trails first and he hated it - immediately tried to jump out. I was afraid that maybe he wouldnt accept a stroller but my husband commented that it wasnt very stable. So we tried the other one. And Mickey *loved* it - immediately. He laid down in it right away. We bought it right there and took him shopping. Took him to several stores and Mickey was absolutely content - and of course, got lots of attention.
Im not saying this one is no good - just not very sturdy. My dog is between 23-25 pounds and this one was just too shakey. The red one, on the other hand, tho much more expensive, is very well built, light weight and easy to handle, taller handle than the other one (my husband is quite tall so it fit him better). It just felt better.
Bottom line, I dont recommend this for dogs over 20 pounds. And if you can afford it, I recommend the other.
Fun & safe ride for my cats, helpful for me     On: 2008-04-26

Ive owned this cat stroller for over 3 years, & have used it with 5 of my cats during that time. For the cats who like to be outside when I am, its been a great way for them to safely enjoy the outdoors. Theyll sit in their stroller near me while Im reading or conversing on the front porch or back patio, & they seem to especially like to be out in it when Im gardening, & down near their eye level....! They will watch the neighborhood "wildlife" (bugs, birds, butterflies) with great delight, & then settle down for a nap in the sun. I originally bought the stroller just for this "sitting out" purpose, & it has fulfilled it very well.

Ive also found that its a great way to take my cats to the vet from
mid-spring to mid-fall. They will readily get into the stroller, but not into a regular carrier. I live just a few blocks away from our vet hospital, & walking one or two of my cats there in the stroller is less stressful on them and on me--& quicker, too--than trying to get them into carriers, getting them into the car, finding parking, etc. When one of my cats was going through chemo & she had to be sedated for each treatment, the vet staff would place her back into the stroller at the end of her treatment & let her wake up there; they said she was much calmer there than when placed in a treatment cage.

As a person with deteriorating, disabiling conditions of both hands, being able to push my cats around in the stroller rather than carrying them by the handles of their carriers has saved me pain and even faster hand deterioration. Since the stroller rolls so smoothly, theres very little pressure on my hands, & that really helps me function and feel better. I can also carry home 10-15 lb. bags of dry cat food or a case of canned food by placing it in the storage area below the main compartment. This stroller is REALLY a workhorse! If I were to make any recommendations for improvement, they would be to make the drink holders deeper on the tray (I find water bottles tip out fairly easily just from regular walking) & to provide a rain cover as part of the basic stroller purchase.

Our Happy Trails stroller is a favorite item at our house, & it carries kittens as well as very large cats (my largest is 25lbs.) comfortably. I highly recommend it. Should ours ever wear out, I will most certainly purchase another one!
Surprisingly well done!     On: 2008-01-07

Bought this for my daughters cats. Assembly was surprisingly simple, took ~ 10 minutes. Zippers for both front and rear access are well made and dont stick. Inside pad is skimpy; add your own folded towel, thin pillow or crate liner--especially the one with a four-sided padded border.

My daughters technique of introducing this was excellent, so Ive outlined it here.

1. Leave the assembled stroller, with pet compartment unzipped, in an out of the way area indoors, where it can become part of the landscape.

2. Encourage the pet to become familiar with the stroller by placing a favorite toy or two inside.

3. If you intend to use this with multiple pets, start out with just one.

4. Make initial trips very short, perhaps 5 minutes, and build on success.

5. End with a small treat.

WHAT I LIKE: It has a second (rear) zippered access door.
I WISH: It could be folded without unzipping the front access screen to the pet compartment.
Lawsuit waiting to happen - Do not buy this     On: 2007-12-08

I am absolutely shocked that this product ever made it to market. If a baby stroller with this design ever hit the stores, the company would have been shut down by lawsuits instantly. Take a good look at the picture and Ill describe the dimensions. The wheelbase (front to back) is 20 inches. The wheel width is 14 inches. The bottom of the basket (where the animal sits) is 16 inches off the ground. The basket itself is 24 inches long with 9 of those inches BEHIND THE REAR AXLE. If its hard to picture those dimensions with a 30 lb. animal inside it, the deal is this - the center of gravity is way too high for the tiny wheel width and length. Any restless dog that weighs more than 10lbs can easily tip this thing over. Making matters far worse, and it is completely beyond comprehension how this happened, there is a full 9 inches of basket that sits behind the rear axle. If the animal simply shifts towards the back of the stroller, down it goes.

Now let me clarify one thing - I understand that it is a stroller and youre supposed to have your hands on the handles. But thats impossible. You have to put the animal in it and you have to zip it closed. Unless you have two people, youre going to have moments where you cant stabilize it yourself. Or if you let go for even a moment, lets say to tie your shoe, expect this thing to be sideways if your animal moves at all. If a dog gets up on his hind legs and puts his front paws against a side wall of the basket, it will go over sideways. If he moves toward the back, the front wheels come right up off the ground and the whole unit falls backwards over the rear axle.

We borrowed this item from a member of our animal rescue group because one of our rescued dogs is old, overweight, and has a bad back. She has gotten to where she cant walk as far as the others so we thought wed try this. We observed the dangerous flaw in the design the first time we tried it. I picked her up and put her in the basket and, with both hands on her and not on the stroller, before I could grab the handle she had moved toward the back and tipped it over. After several weeks of serious back pain and trips to the vet, we tried again, acknowledging that we had to be very diligent about stabilizing it at all times. Unfortunately, that kind of diligence is impossible. Sooner or later youll need to momentarily let go and before you know it your dog has hit the pavement again. Whats so incredibly stupid about the design is that there is a cargo basket underneath the animal compartment. All they need to do is get rid of it and lower the compartment. One other flaw worth mentioning - the handle needs to extend farther back. Unless you walk with your arms stretched way out in front of you, youll find yourself constantly kicking the back wheels or the axle. This a minor issue compared to the injury you could inflict on your pet, but worth pointing out.

In summary, I am just astonished that this product could have made it out of the test facility. Maybe a cat or a real small dog couldnt knock it over, but I wouldnt even bet on that. I have contacted the manufacturer, but have not heard back yet. Regardless of what they say, or if theyll pay my vet bills, this product needs to be taken off the market. Do not buy this. There are other strollers out there. Look for one with a low set basket.

My Cat Loves It     On: 2007-06-19

I have a handicap cat and this is the only way he gets to go out into the world. After my "former" vet caused Sinjun to go deaf, he was then run over by a Fed Ex truck and now is sight impaired and has a limp. He is a dominant Siamese and very vocal. Before this he was king of our townhome neighborhood. But now he is confined to home and my little courtyard. He loves the stroller so much. He sits up there like the king that he is and away we go. He likes to go fast and takes bumps like a champ. If you stop, he lets you know that he wants to go. So we dont get to socialize for long. He even climbs in it while it is parked in my living room and lets you know that he is ready to go. When I cannot take him, I sit the stroller in front of my sunny french doors and he gets in and takes a nap in the sun.

My normal cat isnt such a big fan of going for rides but she likes to play with Sinjun while he is in it or she will get in it and will bap him with her paw when he goes by or she will not let him in the it for the fun of it.

My family got this for me last Christmas (kinda as a joke) and I cannot tell you the difference it has made in our little lives. He is happier (and a little quieter) and I am getting lots of exercise walking him 4-5 times a week.

Even my cat sitter will take him for walks while I am away.

And my neighbors are getting a kick out of it too. I am the lady that takes her crazy cat for walks in a "baby" stroller. But I just smile and wave.
Pet stuff

This little stroller makes my inside cat very happy. I live in a third floor condo with a small deck. One day my cat took a tumble off the railing and landed on concrete. That was his lucky day, and he only lost one life. But he wants to go out SO badly: and when I saw this stroller in a "pet" magazine, I thought this would be a good way for both of us to get outside. This stroller is easy to assemble (just put the wheels on) takes 10 minutes tops. And it is VERY well made. Your animal is securely contained and easily removed by way of sturdy zippers, and he/she has a 360 degree view. It is large enough for animals up to 30 pounds. We both feel better, and he really loves sneaking up on birds who dont know there is a CAT in that stroller.
It has two cup holders and a large basket below the animal compartment for people to carry their stuff, large quiet wheels with brakes, padded hand grips, and smooth pivoting front wheels make this nicer than most person strollers. One button folds it flat for storage.

wonderful stroller, easy to put together, works well, no problems or issues, except that at 92bux, one would be better off going for something less pricey.

It pleased the pooch
by: Anonymous    On: 2007-04-15

I was surprised at the sturdiness of this stroller. It was easy to assemble and my pooch jumped in before I could finish putting the wheels on! It is rather sizable though, as it takes up most of the room in my cars trunk. I like the cupholder and the storage space beneath the bed, its great for taking my pooch for a day at the mall. I also like that I can zip the flap so the dog is protected from overzealous folks that want to pet when he doesnt want to be disturbed.

I absolutely love this stroller. We have carriers, body slings, the wheelies(roll luggage type from Target), and strollers. Our 3 Yorkies are our children, and we like to make sure they are with us, and comfortable, and happy. Although the other things do work, they can become inconvenient, but the stroller is fantastic. We have the blue, and the larger pink. Our babies go everywhere with us, including restaurants with outdoor seating. If you are reading this to help decide if you should purchase it, I definitely suggest YES. I have not come across any problems what so ever, except one of my babies is a chewer, and she chewed through the mesh around the zipper, but I just sewed it up with a very thick black thread, and keep my eyes on her. My babies love these too, and if we even go near the strollers, they all come running, and try to jump in them. If I put them by the sofas, they will just get inside them, and lay down. This is a GREAT stroller.

by: Anonymous    On: 2007-01-11

I love the pet stroller. I was concerned because it has plastic wheels and I expected rubber but I have been using it for 2 months and havent had a problem. The handle extension is a little short and you have to get your pace right so you dont run into the stroller because you are a little too close. Also, I have to hold the stroller with one hand because I have two other dogs on a leash. There is some mechanism in the middle of the handle that makes it difficult so I have to hold it close to one side or the other. Neither of these issues has significantly affected our total enjoyment of the stroller. My dog loves it. She can be totally zipped in or I can leave the front wide open. She doesnt have any problem what-so-ever using the stroller. The stroller was actually delivered within about a day and a half of the order. My son put it together and didnt seem to have any problem doing so. I absolutely love it and would certainly order it again if I needed a new one.
Very Good

I was very pleased with how quickly I received the stroller. It was package well. It took a couple of minutes to assemble and it was ready to go. Plus it was affordable, very sturdy, easy to manuver, and get down stair. It is such a blessing to have one of these. My Westie is a bit overwieght (28lbs) and he loves it. He has room to stretch out, sit up. I can see him at all times because of the mesh veiwer. I can take him on the train, in stores, where ever I want, because hes secured and enclosed. I get alot of compliments and some strange looks because it looks just like a baby stroller, even better than some of them I was told. ****The only thing I would say bad about it is that the mesh cover has a toxic smell to it....BUT once I took it outside a couple of times it did air out, and the smell is gone. ****Also to make it more comfortable I did place a cusion lining inside. Otherwise I thought it was great, I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to travel with pets, have older pets, dont own a car and would like an easier way to take your pet to vet visits, parks, or where ever.

This pet stroller is sturdy, very driveable, easy to assemble and a good price. Renny, my Himalayan, has adopted it as his personal little house. Whenever I cant find him, day or night, he is curled up in his stroller bungalow, fast asleep.
I am very happy with this product.

Great purchase: good price, quick delivery, easy assembly, well-made. The assembly directions must have been updated since some of the previous reviews. Only, minimal complaint, is as others wrote, the stroller has essentially no padding. I purchased a cage liner, which fits perfect.

We have a small dog who travels with us in our 5th-wheel camper. The stroller folds to a compact size and is easily packed and unpacked for use. It is sturdily built. The mesh screen handles clawing of an excited dog. The stroller allows for fresh air and provides adequate shade for the dog. We much prefer our dog in the stroller than on a leash in crowds. This stroller is a quality, useful stroller for that. We also like the handy tray and compartment under the dogs seat. We all love our stroller - including the dog!

I have 2 small poodles, and they love riding in the stroller. My dogs total 9 pounds, so they have plenty of room in the stroller. I added a small blanket for them because the padding is not very thick-- that just made them feel more at home. The stroller is very easy to manage on the street. It folds up and fits in the car with ease. I am really pleased with mine.

MY DOG LOVES IT!
by: Anonymous    On: 2006-07-09

I live in a retired community. Pets are not allowed in the lobby. The door for pets to go out is at the end of a hall, and has many stair steps to go up and down. With this stroller, my dog is enclosed and can go out the front entrance which has no stair steps to worry about. He loves the stroller. We only use it from our apartment, down the hall, and through the lobby, not for long walks.

It would, however be great for an older pet who can not do much walking but still needs to get outside.
Excellent for Pet Therapy Work!
by: Anonymous    On: 2006-06-13

We take our cat Muppet visiting the elderly in nursing homes/retirement homes. Shes about 9 lbs, a fairly petite tortie cat, and very calm and manageable. Shes normally a housecat, but adapts easily. When we first took her visiting, we would carry her in a basket. Now, 9 lbs plus a basket starts getting heavy, especially when it comes to holding her out over beds. I couldnt even take her alone, I had to always make sure my roommate could come with because Id get tired carrying her. Plus, she didnt seem super comfortable in it and would get restless after a half-hour.

I found this pet stroller online - I had never heard of such a thing. I did some careful research, then bought it at a local pet store in October of 2005. The instructions were a bit odd, but we figured it out fairly easily.

Muppet loves it! Shes much more comfortable now, and we dont have to carry her. She likes riding in it, and sometimes curls up and dozes off if we are talking too long to people. We have zipped up the front and taken her on walk-a-thons, even semi-offroading. Its not quite built for this, but has shown no signs of falling apart in the nearly 2 years we have had it.

Critiques:

One of the other reviews commented that itd be nice to have an easy way to fold over the the screen in front, and I agree - when we are actually doing her pet therapy work, we unzip the screen and fold up the back. We turn over the screen in front as far as we can so people can pet her.

The same review also mentioned that a strap or hook would be a good idea, for you to loop over or attach a leash, and I definitely agree. There is no way to secure her in even loosely if we have the front open, and itd be good to have a way to attach the leash so that if somebody tries to pick her up when we arent looking, they are stopped.

Anyway, its a fantastic device, and due to the height, I like it better than any of the others out there. Its the perfect height for people in wheelchairs or on low beds to reach in and pet her. Great product!! Id buy another when this one wears out...

Great idea, but not quite there yet

Im concerned about the plastic black mesh window, looks to be coated with some chemical finish. It had a pungent toxic chemical smell to it when first arrived, and even with persistent airing out over several months, smell still persists.

I love the idea of a stroller that is more than a cage on a dolly. But Im concerned enough about the health safety, and, my dog dislikes riding in it, perhaps for the same reason. It didnt work for us.
Our cat loves it!

Was so excited (and skeptical) about getting this stroller for our eight-year old neutered male cat named Simon! About a year ago, Simon was diagnosed with FIV (the feline form of HIV); therefore, its not a good idea for him to roam outside since he could potentially infect other cats in our suburban neighborhood.

This stroller is very simple to put together (although the diagrams are horrible--luckily, it only took me, a non-engineer, only 45 minutes to fully assemble). Also, its definitely flimsier than most baby strollers so dont even try to use this for people. On the plus side, the brakes are very good and the storage comparments are truly outstanding--the water bottle and key holder is extremely marvelous! The stroller also has front shocks and they work well. Im not sure how long the plastic tires will last but they seem sturdy even though theyre definitely not as good for offroad terrain (if this is a concern to you). The one drawback about this stroller is the replacement parts--no word on whether or not theyre available but I havent researched it, yet.

Simon went on his first "walk" last night and loves it! He was so attentive to all the sights and smells. He did not seem nervous at all but was definitely curious about all the new adventures. This stroller also provides good exercise for his "Mama and Daddy" since well get quite a workout pushing it around for our only child. ;-)

Madison travels in style!

Our boy, Madison, loves his stroller. He was a bit apprehensive, at first, when zipped-in, but soon settled down. This is a well built item...Nothing flimsy about it.

Our only complaints are: The zipper is a little difficult to get started and the pad could stand a little more cushioning (we added a "blankie"). Also, I would have liked the bottom portion of the front screen to have been a bit more rigid....We like to keep the screen open, at times. Perhaps a safety strap (to connect to a harness) would be nice, as well.

On the plus side, Madison has been accepted in many previously forbidden places and he is safe from the probing hands of strangers! This stroller is narrower than a baby stroller, which makes it easier to navigate in stores and crowded areas. The generous canopy provides plenty of shade and both the underneath basket and parent tray supply ample storage space. The mesh is airy and allows us to keep an eye on our boy. Oh, we also love the easy folding mechanism....A flat fold can be achieved in seconds....And away we go!

All in all, I can see that we will get a lot of use out of this stroller. Being a dachshund, Madison has always been height disadvantaged; he is now enjoying "the high life!"

We lost one of the cute "paw" hubcaps. I E-mailed Pet Gear and less than a week later, they sent a replacement...Plus a spare!

Practical Pet Stroller
by: bgoluboff    On: 2005-06-17

I had been looking for months before finally choosing to purchase this pet stroller. No cute frills - this was the most practical that I found, both for pet and guardian. Although it was very easy to assemble, it took me about half an hour of scratching my head trying to figure out why there were parts missing, and why I had parts that werent listed on the diagram. Fortunately I read one of the other reviews here on Amazon, and she explained how to put it together...phew!
Come on Pet Gear Inc. company - you really need to update your assembly instructions !
Other than incoherent instructions (read other review if you need help), I am very satisfied with this purchase. Now I can take my little dog almost everywhere, and when her tiny legs are tired out theres a place she can go for a snooze without my having to carry her, or take her home.

Happy Gear Pet Stroller

This is a very beautiful pet stroller. I just got it for my aging dog. When she gets tired walking, I dont have to carry her home. It has a heavy vinyl odor so I am airing it out a few days in the sun. I did need help putting it together. I look forward to long walks with this stroller.

Meesa Kitten's Stroller Ride
by: castlebooknook    On: 2005-03-27

Since my new kitten Meesa loves to run outside the minute we open the door, I felt she was adventurous enough to venture outside in a stroller. She also cries when I leave her alone and so the only solution seems to be to take her with me when I leave the house to go walking or to go get the mail.

Both cats were very curious about this new object as it sat in the living room. I pretended it didnt exist for a few days and then started to put each cat in the stroller and left the zipper panel open so they could get in and out and not feel trapped. Once you go outside you will appreciate the safety the zipper panel provides. Your cat will be spared the inconvenience of being chased by dogs, that type of thing.

So, after a few days, Meesa was ready to go outside. Since she was used to the stroller, she felt safe. I put her mouse toy in the stroller and lined the base with a soft towel. We then ventured out to get the mail. She was in bliss. Not only could she view everything from the safety of her mesh viewing window, she could also see me through the top opening and see out the sides. So, no matter if she was sitting, laying down or looking back at me, she felt safe.

My main concern was that being in a stroller would cause her too much stress. I know how cats seem to dislike suddenly being put in new environments. It seems Meesa is rather adventurous.

The Happy Trails Pet Stroller Features: Shock absorbers in the front wheels, 4 Pet viewing windows, Front Entry with Zipper, Waterproof Material, Top opening to view pet and a One-Hand Fold Mechanism for folding the stroller easily in half.

If you are taking the stroller with you on a trip, it will store flat. Unfolds again in an instant. You will also enjoy the Ergonomic handle.

Other features for your convenience:

Parent-Tray for water/keys, leash, etc.

Waterproof tray on the inside base of stroller - can be removed for cleaning

Large storage basket - You could use this for going on a picnic and taking lunch if you are heading to a park. Also useful if walking down to the mailbox or for carrying around cat toys or other kitten luxuries.

The only thing I was worried about when I ordered this stroller was the handlebar. I wasnt sure if it was expandable. This might be an issue if you are very tall or want to stand further back from the stroller. I found I could easily push the stroller from the side while walking or walk behind the stroller without any problem. They could improve this item by allowing the user to adjust the handle bar position and length.

Assembly: To assemble this item all you do is take the stroller out of the box and then you attach the wheels. Now, if only the instructions matched what is in the box. Fortunately it was easy enough to figure out, although I do think they need to update assembly instructions for the wheels immediately if not sooner. It seems they updated the design, but are still using an older pamphlet. I did not find a collet or a collet cover, but another metal "hair-pin-like" object that fastened the wheel onto the axle very easily. Like putting a hairpin through a metal bar with a hole in it. So, that was easy enough.

Once you get the wheels on, there is a tiny hubcap. Once the rear wheels are attached to the rear axle, you just slide the rear axle onto the frame until it clicks and locks. The front wheels are already assembled and all you have to do is basically remove the covers and press the wheels onto the front of the frame base. Assembly took me about 10 minutes max.

Suitable for pets up to 33 lbs - cats and dogs or Id imagine other pets who love to get out of the house now and then.

Very lightweight - easy to push with one hand

8" wheels - Perfect on rugged terrain and the shock absorbers make the ride
more comfortable.

Fully lined canopy made from 600 Denier waterproof material - walk rain or shine.

Easy to store, fold or take with you when you travel

Replaceable parts - See the website for customer service.

To minimize wear and tear, they suggest you keep all moving parts in the wheels lubricated with WD40, but they make a note about not lubricating the brake components or swivel locks.

For Pets Only - perfect for older pets, new kittens, puppies, small dogs and other small animals.

My new kitten and I love this stroller and I think you will enjoy this product. Now I look forward to going outside for more walks because I dont have to worry about Meesa getting lonely. She likes to be within 4 feet of wherever I am these days and follow me around like a puppy. She is currently sleeping on the desk in her comfy kitten bed. Eventually Ill train Meesa to deal with a leash so she can get out of the stroller when we arrive at our destination.

Most pleased with this purchase!
