So-So     On: 2009-08-18

Great concept however dish is too shallow. My cats pulled the grass out by the roots. I have one more pod so I will try again and see if I get better results.
Worked good for a little bit     On: 2009-06-30

The grass grew FAST and my cats LOVED it, but the grass didnt last long (only about a week). After that, the individual sections started coming out and mold started growing by week 3. I might have just not let it grow longenough before giving it over to the cats, but for the price, Id give it another try.
Maintenance is Key     On: 2009-02-13

I found this product to be great as long as you follow directions accurately. It is fairly low mess when setting it up and my cat absolutely loves it.

Here are some tips for keeping it fresh and growing: Take an old spray bottle or buy an empty one at a store and fill it with water. For optimum results, get liquid plant food concentrate to add to the water. Make sure you get the kind that is used for spraying onto edible food. Spray it liberally every day rather than dumping water on the grass. Over-watering it will kill the plant. Simply lift up the tray to see if there is excess water in the bottom, which you should discard. My apartment has a Southern view which is the ideal lighting for growing plants, so find a window in your home that faces the South. Those are general tips that can apply to any plant.

Good luck!
Does not grow     On: 2009-01-09

Although the box is nice, the seed does not grow. I put in seed from another kit and it grew just fine.
Three Cat Approvals     On: 2008-11-15

The response to the grown grasses with three different felines was the same. They all immediately buried their nosed into the grass and enjoyed themselves.
I used the seeds to make several gift pots for friends.
I mixed the seeds together and there were different varieties that did sprout so I was pleased. Mine is still going after a month. I keep coming home and find parts of it on the floor as my cat has munched and pulled a quarter of it out of the box. She loves it.
The actual wooden planter box was fine, but the four interior suspended containers are a little limiting in use when using dehydrated peat planters.
A very fast process     On: 2008-10-06

This product comes with very easy to follow instructions to get started and one day after I planted the seeds, I was able to see some grass. The base is quite cute.
I was amazed at the speed the grass grew, 5 days later it was fully grown. My two cats loved it, they enjoyed the 4 grass varieties. It was a great treat for them.
The big problem was that after one week the plant died. I did everything possible to keep it alive Water/Sun/Shade(there are no instructions for maintenance)
The whole process from the day I got it until the day the grass was dead and dry was around week and a half.
I though it was going to last longer.
Cats loved it, easy to grow     On: 2008-09-21

Comes in a very cute wooden box with four types of seeds. You soak the peatmoss in water then mix in the seeds, takes 5 minutes to set up and then just forget about it. In 2 days the first two kinds of grass were sprouting, and 3 days later were about 7 inches high! All four grasses sprouted fast and grew very tall in 5 days max. Sprinkle water on it occasionally. Totally easy! Cats LOVED it and chew it all the time, in fact it got so ragged from them breaking off grass I bought a second one, which also grew fast and worked great.
I Love This!     On: 2008-07-29

Kittys GardenVery easy to start. All four types of seeds started to grow within 4 days. By day 10 I had a beautiful grass garden for my cats. It was winter. Knew they would love it. I presented grass to my cats. They totally ignored it. Kept grass alive with frequent watering til I could finally plant it outside. My cats began to eat it after that. Kept the lovely plastic lined wooden box. The "Kittys Garden" wooden, lined box now contains a very healthty wax plant. Great fun!
Make sure you let the grass grow atleast 3" before giving to cats     On: 2008-05-08

My girlfriend refused to wait for the recommended 3" length and our cats destroyed the grass... it was fun while it lasted....
My previous review : incorrect     On: 2008-04-03

I had been looking for catnip. When I saw " Kittys garden" I thought it would contain that herb. I dis not read carefully that it contains : oats,
rye,and wheat grasses. I gave them a bad review but I apologize. This
"garden" is just fine even without the catnip. So I am giving them 5 stars
for excellent customer relations, speedy service and a good product.
Please change my previos review to "good" Nina Lockwood

I had two of them. The first grew beautifully, but died in about four days. The second didnt grow at all.
"Cat Grass"     On: 2008-03-04

My cat is delighted with the variety of grasses and when shes not eating it - she lies across it.
Always nice to be surprised!     On: 2007-12-30

Excellent product...the quality really blew me away! I wasnt expecting much from this product, lets face it...its just grass. However, the container it comes in is really nice. Very surprised, and I will be getting more of theses for other cat lovers.
Grows Easily     On: 2007-12-02

The 4 different types of seeds included in the packets have all grown well, although not all at the same rate of growth, and some seeds grew better than others. I got this product for my cat so that he doesnt have to go outside onto the apartment complex grounds to eat some grass when he is feeling nauseous, and although he has mouthed the Kittys Garden grasses two or three times, he has not yet bitten any off. He is 21 years old, and among other health problems, has problems with nausea. I give him some vet recommended medication for his nausea (it doesnt always seem to work), but sometimes he just wants to chomp on some grass. Although he has not yet bitten off any of the Kittys Garden grass, I consider this a good product. The grass outside is stiffer than this grass is, maybe that is why the outside grass is easier for him to bite off, but I worry about contaminants. At least I feel that this is a safe product for him.

UPDATE: After about a week, several of the blades of grass started to wilt (they didnt need water). I took them out of the growing containers and transplanted them into regular flower pots with potting soil. It took a few days, but I can report that there is new growth. My cat still hasnt bitten any off, but he is probably close to the end of his life due to his kidney disease, so it is understandable.
died shortly after growing     On: 2007-08-10

got this, started to grow it. one of the seeds took forever to really grow at all, then suddenly it grew the tallest, though with the least amount of grass blades. then suddenly a week later they all stopped drinking water and died.
Very easy to grow, my cat enjoys nibbling on it
by: laylah_rossi    On: 2007-04-02

I bought Kittys Garden after I first discovered my cat trying to nibble on all the fake plants in my home. I had to spray those with bitter apple just to get him to stop. I was a bit skeptical about buying the pre-grown pots of grass from the pet store, because I bought those in the past for my gerbils and they wilted quickly after purchase. I do not have a "green thumb" in any way, shape or form (hence all the fake plants in my place), but decided to buy this one because it boasted a nice variety of organic grasses for my spoiled cat and the wood container was adorable.

I found this kit very easy to use. So easy, in fact, that I started my garden in my office and left it on the window ledge there for the first week. Of the four grains offered, I found that the barley one didnt thrive in my kit. A bit of sparse grass grew from that compartment, but overall barley was a disappointment. However, I still highly recommend this kit to any other pet owner that needs some grass for their four-legged "pet-kid".

confusion amongst them     On: 2007-01-24

sometimes seeds dont germinate well. no biggy for 7$ when seed packs from most dealers like burpee will cost on average around 2$ so you spend 5$ for a nice planter. one with a low profile to keep the cats from KOing it onto the floor and rolling in the dirt... my cats dig my mums out when i bring them in from the cold. and they knock my smaller pots down so i will be purchasing these types of products to distract them.

i believe the cat grass is an annual and wont keep growing and growing.

but then i didnt research this. if the cats eat it all down it might die just like grass that is cut too low. but wouldnt it come back. i will have to pull my books out.
Amazing product, the cat loves it.     On: 2006-12-27

Its easy to grow, easy to maintain, and a great addition for my cat! She used to spend her time trying to figure out how to eat the house plants, but now she just munches on this now and then. Its a great purchase for an awesome price.
WONDERFUL!     On: 2006-12-01

what a beautiful little wooden box!
Just an adorable item!
I wanted to order TWO MORE, but its no longer available, what a shame!
not great     On: 2006-07-14

only three of the four types of seed really sprouted. my cat loved it and munched on it constantly. however, just about a week ago, it all pretty much died. maybe my cat munched too hard? i still have the nice container, so im just going to get the seeds it came with and replant them in the container. maybe thats what i should have done to begin with. its a nice container though.
