Fantastic Cat Feeder     On: 2010-07-30

Works very well. Some setup required but not too difficult to figure out. Easy to adjust the amount of food dispensed. Our cat no longer bugs us when it gets near feeding time...and thats a wonderful thing!
Very Good Product     On: 2010-07-15

I have been using the product for a couple of weeks now. It works very well and is well built. After screwing it down to the floor it has held up very well against regular assaults by the cat.

Only 4 stars for 2 reasons:
- as others have mentioned directions are poor, way too many words and way too few pictures. I am an engineer and I had to undo steps twice in the course of assembly.
- the adjustment is VERY sensitive. I wanted to dispense 1/8 cup 4 times a day. The difference between an 1/8 and 1/4 cup is not a turn of the screwdriver, but a touch of the screwdriver. It took about a half hour of "touches" to get it sufficiently close to what I wanted.

But, once operational and calibrated it is working like a charm. No more howls at the bedroom door at 5 AM.
Good, with some resverations     On: 2010-06-25

Although Im pretty happy with the feeder now (the other reviews explain it well), I was initially rather frustrated with it, for two main reasons:
- The instructions are terrible. There seem to be several different methods of building it given. The pictures are bad. I gave up quickly and just figured out to assemble it myself. Speaking of which, the level of assembly for this product seems a bit out of line with the price. $130 and I have to screw it all together, really?
- The feed amount adjustment screw is VERY sensitive. I spent a huge amount of time tweaking the quantity of food that comes out, and this was difficult and frustrating because of the incredibly minor changes I had to make each time. If the upper limit of the timing screw was maybe half what it is, it would be far far easier to "program".

That being said, this is the only feeder Im aware of that lets you control the food in tiny increments, and also works fine with food that is physically small (some of the others dont work with smaller pellets).
Kitty feeder     On: 2010-06-20

The instructions were a little vague and it was slightly frustrating to put together, but it works really well and helps keep consistency with feeding cycles. The small adjustment screw varies the length of time that food dispenses, not the size of the opening. It would have been helpful for that to have been stated. Once everything is set up it is very low maintenance and an amazing help! My kitty gets sick easily so I must feed her small portions frequently. This feeder allows me to go away for a day or days and not worry. It is the epicenter of convenience.
Worth the money     On: 2010-06-15

My cat was always waking me up at 4 or 5 in the morning because it was crying for food. I knew I needed to get an automatic feeder and I was suprised to find out that so few feeders exist and all of them were getting terrible reviews. I looked at every single feeder on Amazon and other sites before deciding that this one was worth my money.

Its twice the price as most of the other feeders youll find, unless you buy like a [...] one, but I want to let you know its worth the money. It took only 2 days for my cat to learn that the machine, not me, would be giving him the food he wants so badly. He has since stopped crying in the morning and I get a full nights rest. I even use it to feed him the rest of the day now which makes my job easier.

Id highly recommend this to anyone considering a automatic feeder for their cat or dog. Ill sum up the rest of my thoughts in pros vs cons in case youre still undecided:

PROS:
-It works! It does what it says it will and portion control/timing are a breeze.
-Sturdy construction. Looks and feels solid. I think itll last quite some time. You can even purchase additional hoppers to increase the food storage capacity.
-Cat proof. My cat sniffed around and hit it but was unable to steal food from it. The chute is a few inches long and quite narrow.
-Its quiet. The only sound that youll hear is the food actually clinking the metal plate as it falls into it. I dont mind it and it actually acts as an alert for your hungry cat.

CONS:
-Not the most aesthetically appleasing device. Its not terrible looking but its not stylish either. Also, youll have to think about where youre putting it, as the wire and the somewhat bulky timer need to be plugged in somewhere. If you dont have an outlet on the floor, like me, its a little hard on the eyes.
-The instructions are poor. Itll actually take you an hour to an hour and 30 minutes to complete the construction, testing and setup. This is due in part to small blurry pictures and not so clear instructions; nothing some common sense cant figure out though.

Acceptable but flawed     On: 2010-06-15

I have tried several automated cat-feeders, and this one is clearly the best. The optional "chute cover" (highly recommended) actually prevents my cat from fishing out extra cat food, and the timer can be set to dispense very small quantities of food many times throughout the day and night. The machine is small and relatively unobtrusive. However, for the price I would have expected a better product. The assembly instructions were TERRIBLE. We could not figure out how to set up the machine until we discovered a video with instructions on the Superfeeder website. Watch that video before attempting to build your feeder! And though my cat food is a normal, small size (Science Diet), it sometimes "jams" in the chute/ramp thing coming out of the feeder ... meaning the cat doesnt actually get fed at his scheduled times. On balance, though, this feeder is far superior to the others on the market.
Solid seller & product!     On: 2010-06-13

Loving this feeder. Pregnancy & a busy life is challenging and the Superfeeder has helped me get more sleep. I read the reviews and was sold. Thank you for posting. The cats were spooked by the food "slot machine" at first, but that was short lived and they are both curious and happy to run over to it when they hear the "slot machine" Btw, we feed them 3x/day. The product feels solid and its even made in the USA! The seller sure knows how to ship like a pro, too. I noticed that they sell machines for outdoors and koi ponds! Neat.

I agree, the instructions were confusing like others have posted. It was a couple things. The machine assembly instructions given were for 2 models rather than just the one model I ordered. Also, instructions were spread out over a booklet in different areas. Now, the timer instructions were really spread out over stickers placed on the plastic baggies that the parts came in as well as the timer manufacturers flyer (different from the machines) and other places. So make sure you dont have distractions when putting it together. For future buyers, I hope the seller reformats the instructions. I figured most of it out when I put the instructions down and messed around with it on my own.

Bad for small amounts of non-spherical food     On: 2010-06-07

I was really impressed by all the positive reviews of this product, but the truth is that it is not a miracle-feeder. I have owned one of these for quite a while now, and Ive really tried to make it work with every possible configuration of the settings on the device, even though it is fairly difficult to adjust. My cat is on a diet, and he eats a dry food composed of pellets that are shaped like giant aspirin tablets - round in one dimension, flatter in the other. He is fed an amount that works out to between 1/8 and 1/4 of a cup of food 3 times a day. This feeder cannot dispense these amounts reliably, and the range of variation is relatively huge. Sometimes it dispenses a dozen pellets, sometimes over 30 pellets. In short, I cant rely on this feeder, even though it cost over $100. Only purchase this feeder if the food you are going to put in there is perfectly round and fairly small - it was originally developed for fish food and thats what it works for, NOT most cat foods.
Some assembly required.     On: 2010-05-27

I have now been using this product for 3 days and so far so good. The only major warning I have so far on this item is that assembly is not easy. The instructions provided are detailed but sometime refer to parts that differ from those in the box. There are written step by step directions with accompanying photos. The photos are a bit small and sometimes hard to decipher (especially since the parts I had werent the same as the ones in the photos). Once I had completely assemble the feeder (took about 45 minutes) I still had several screws left over. Its nice they provide extra screws but this left me wondering if I had done something wrong. Also, you will need a couple of different sized screw drivers (small and extra small) to install the screws.

I will have to see how it holds up over time but so far I am pleased with the construction (sturdy). Cleaning the bowl is simple enough since its not attached - its just a regular metal bowl that you could pick up at the pet store. If I want to clean the food dispenser/container parts it will need to be disassembled. That shouldnt be too hard (just remove a few screws) but definitely not something I would take the time to do regularly. Ill need to use some small brushes to get at the nooks and crannies but as the design is quite simple this should not pose too much of a challenge.
The Solution to Our Purr-oblem     On: 2010-05-20

The Short Story:

This works as nothing else has for us. Worth every penny. Amazing customer service.

---

The Longer Story:

From an early age our cat would wake us at 4:30 in the morning wanting to be fed. After some research I realized that this was typical behavior and that I simply needed to help him understand that this wasnt going to get him what he wanted, and he would eventually stop. Well, he never fully stopped, though we did manage to move his feeding to a time more closely aligned with our schedules, but still... we were being woken before we wanted to and it truly began to affect the quality of our sleep.

We tried a spritz from the water bottle, we tried simply ignoring him until we were ready, we tried taking turns, we tried a less expensive Le Bistro feeder, but nothing worked until we found this unit. The water requires you to take physical action (Im up!), and in our attempt to ignore our cat we realized he is Persistent (yes that word is intentionally capitalized.) Taking turns amounted to what felt like a prison sentence with days off for good behavior. The Le Bistro feeder, while competent is relatively flimsy (in comparison) and very easily figured out by our cat: he realized he could stick his hand up the feed shoot and trigger the release mechanism allowing him to eat at all hours of the day and night - while this was stimulating to his mind, ultimately it was unhealthy for him, building both unwanted fat and a budding food neuroses.

Enter the CSF-3 Super Feeder. Though not cheap the unit is built like a tank, expandable in a way no other feeder is, and is backed by world-class, personalized customer service. Our unit arrived shortly after ordering and by following the not-insignificant directions the unit was up and operating in no time. Set in place and primed with the included timer I was ecstatic to see how our new feeder would change my sleep pattern forever more.

Our feline friend, however, was NOT about to let go without a fight.

We opted for the secure chute cover (which is mentioned as an option to prevent outdoor animals, like raccoons, from scratching up the unit) to keep our cats little paws from getting up to their old tricks. But... 2 days in and hed already broken it off in his attempt to get to the food, which was only upstaged by his repeatedly knocking the unit over and tearing off the cover.

I know that our cat is extreme by most measures - having shared my home with many cats Id never experienced anything quite like this. And to think he was so loving and docile during the day/non-feeding hours. One would never know... like a small, hirsute Ted Bundy, stalking his pelleted pray late into the night and early morn.

Frazzled by his behavior and having spent what I did on a feeder, I e-mailed the company for suggestions. I received an immediate personalized response saying they would get back to me shortly. An hour after that first email I received confirmation that they were a) astounded by his voracity having previously only dealt with this in raccoons, and b) sending out a free replacement for the chute cover, and finally c) a game plan for how to set things right. It required a little finagling on my part (a lot to feed my cat actually) but they walked me through epoxying the feed tube sections together, drilling deeper holes in the tube sections, and attaching the unit itself to a board such that the cat couldnt knock the unit over without taking himself with it. And that was that... hes been happily eating from the unit for months now and were sleeping like children again (save for when he sprints across my head and chest when he hears the sound of the food striking the dish each morn.)

As I said earlier, our cat is admittedly an extreme case, but I cant imagine that there arent others out there with a similar problem. Im not a cat whisperer and was stymied by this problem until Super Feeder offered their excellent product. In 90% of the cases you will not need to take the steps I needed to, but in the event that you do, rest easy: this is the solution for you.

PS > we bought this feeder for unmanned feedings in the mornings, but with the included timer one can set any number of meals throughout the day - and this units reliability helps a great deal when we slip away for a weekend - we know our cat will be fed the right amount at the right time, every day.
Great cad feeder     On: 2010-05-17

This cat feeder has been running smoothly since the day I got it. Ive been measuring the dispense amount periodically to ensure that there is no change over time, and it has been constant. Construction and materials are high quality. It is not an eye sore in my kitchen. It gives me peace of mind when I am away for a few days. I no longer have to leave work or social engagements to feed the cats. I took the advice of other reviewers and didnt mess around with other cat feeders so I have no basis for comparison. However I can say that I have no complaints about this one.

It scares my cats when it turns on. One is a little slow and I dont think shes figured out that the sound means food, but shes getting there (I think). The smarter one leads her into a room to "hide" then leaves the room to eat while the slow one continues to "hide" (and doesnt get food). It is very mean. Anyway, any tips on facilitating a better association between the sound and food would be appreciated, Ive tried several things.
Best of the Cat Feeders     On: 2010-05-11

High quality, easy to program when and how much food, easy to assemble.

My cat used it the first day, a very smart cat who has not discovered the inner workings. Although assembly is easy, it is easy to start off on the wrong page. If you get started on page 7, all is easy, if not it may take a bit longer. It is solidly built, although I added extra support to ensure my 15 pound cat could not tip it over. It is very solid and cat proof. I love the analog timer it very easy to use. Worth the extra money.
A-W-E-S-O-M-E     On: 2010-04-22

If you are considering buying this, do it! It is a little expensive, but I LOVE this product. It works purrfectly!! (Sorry- had to be done!) Our cat was fairly overweight, and needs to be fed 4 times a day, once being in the middle of the night. So rather than getting up to feed the cat, at 3 am the cat is fed, and quiet!
It does make a noise that reminds me of a slot machine when the food falls into the dish, but its all worth it to see the cat take off like a bullet!!
If you have a dog as clever as ours, be sure to place the small screw in the top of the food tower. Our dog (pointer mix) had it off in 5 minutes, and was having herself a nice snack!
Assembly was not confusing or complicated as others stated. My recommendation is to get everything out, READ the instructions, and then assemble. If you read the instructions, and look at the picture on the box, it goes pretty quickly!
I KNEAD My Super-Feeder! ;-)     On: 2010-04-12

I have owned my Super-Feeder for just a tad over six months now. Checking back on my records I see I opted specifically for their "Deal #18A CSF-3XL CAT FEEDER WITH ANALOG TIMER/up to 1.8 Gal." It is their basic model with dedicated stand, analog timer, a nice proprietary stainless bowl that fits perfectly into a non-slip rubber base so it wont get pushed off (highly recommended), and the extra 1.5-gallon hopper included (w/o the hopper itd only hold about .3 gallons of food, roughly a couple of days worth of food). Super-Feeder claims this is their most popular model and I can verify that it DID seem the wisest buy. You can buy a basic model and outfit it with any number of the above, or other accessories or enhancements, but I found the package deal everything I felt Id reasonably need. You can obtain the same deal on Amazon (i.e., there is no discount) as you would on the Super Feeder website. Due to the many choices on the website Id recommend purchasing there. I paid a final price of $179.80 for Deal 18A.

I made the purchase because I have two cats and once in a VERY great while I might forget to feed them. But more importantly with two cats and several bowls, and given the cats enjoyment of noshing through the day, I always found myself bending over constantly filling and re-filling bowls. Unfortunately I have a moderately severe lower back problem.

Super Feeder to the rescue!!

Ostensibly, you might believe the Super Feeder is expensive. Its certainly more than moderately-priced. However, I believe it is worth every penny. First off, you DO somewhat build it yourself; or maybe more fairly, assemble a half dozen or so pieces. This is required because of all the options that are available. I believe you need only supply a screwdriver. The process takes a good 30 minutes or so. Everything fits perfectly and you really appreciate how solid it is as you screw in this piece or that.

In actual operation you set two feeding quantity settings. You do it once and thats it -- just like the Showtime Rotisserie: "set it and forget it." Except you REALLY forget it after that point. The first setting sets how MUCH food comes out of the unit to the bowl (it widens the pouring gap) and the second setting sets how LONG it remains open and comes out (from maybe 1 to 15 seconds, something like that). In this manner you can gage exactly how much food ultimately lands in the bowl. Further, you set the timer to make the Super Feeder run at the times you specify, thereby controlling how much food comes out in a single day. The nice thing is you can easily modify those two settings on the spot and test them by pressing a test button -- perfect!

I have now rid myself of dual bowls for my two cats and use only the Super Feeder. Yes it IS absolutely true that they hear the Super Feeder go off and WILL run to it, like the proverbial Pavlovian dog. Its totally funny (EXCEPT if the cat is on your lap and digs his/her claw into you as a base to jump....). Nevertheless, I NEVER have to manually feed my cats now. I set the timer to go off every 2 hours day and night (after a few days you wont hear it in the wee hours of the morning). The cats even KNOW when its about time for it to go off and the regular-ness of the feedings ensures they are never hungry. I almost never have to bend over to feed the cats thereby saving my back tons of moderate pain. I only do so maybe every two weeks when I pour about 3/4 to 1 gallon of food into the top of my 1.5 gal. hopper (BTW, I highly recommend you fashion some type of funnel because the 2 x 3-inch opening can be hard to pour a 10-gallon bag of dry cat food into without spillage). And whether I now remember or not, the cats are fed always and regularly. The 1.5 gallon hopper (making a total capacity of 1.8 gal. with the standard smallish hopper included on all models) allows me to leave town whenever I want - especially weekends. I do this maybe once a month for a couple of days. Also, I might go for from 3-10 days perhaps twice a year. The Super Feeder never misses a beat with THAT either and I actually no longer employ a cat sitter (given that I supply TONS of water all over the house). Hell, the cats NEED a break. The Super Feeder handles it with no problem because it is always on (actually power goes to it for only the length of time you set your timer for; so, e.g., I might set it for every two hours, or 12 times a day, but power goes to the feeder only maybe 10 minutes during those 12 times, thus saving tons of energy and ensuring your Super Feeder gets minimal work and will last forever).

This thing is a total godsend for me and for my cats. Before I got the Super Feeder, one of my cats was a little on the svelte side, and the other was a little heavier; but with the controlled feeding, both now have very good healthy bodies. I wholeheartedly recommend the Super Feeder, especially Deal 18A if you MIGHT be gone for more than three days every now and again. I cannot tell you how much peace of mind it has given me knowing it is always on and alert, even when I am not.

Now we're both happy!     On: 2010-04-06

This is the first time Ive felt compelled to rate a product. Let me start by saying that my newest kitty, Chloe, is a shelter cat. She was already 10 lbs when I got her but after 7 months she had ate herself up to a hefty 13.6 pounds. Obviously, she was not to be trusted with a self feeder!

I had started to feed her a prescribed amount on the advice of my Vet. My work schedule is varied and most days I am away from home for about 12 hours, way too long for "Chub Cakes" to go without food. When she finally got fed at the end of my day she would woof down her food and sometimes vomit from eating so quickly. I came across this product and was impressed with the other reviews that I read.

I received it quickly, but was missing the additional 2 cup extension that I had ordered. A quick email to the company followed by a quick reply from Gerard and they shipped it right out, no hassles at all.

I waited a couple of days to set it up, the instructions seemed a little overwhelming since I wasnt familiar with the names of the parts they were referencing. I clicked on the video link they send you and problem solved, I walked through step by step and it was set up! I was a little worreied about calibrating the amount of food but must have done something right because that, too, was simple. And theyre not kidding when they tell you to make adjustments in tiny increments! I decided Chloe should be fed every four hours and as I adjusted the calibration I just scooped up the food and weighed it in grams to get the amount I wanted to her have. I does vary a little, but I believe at the end of the day she is getting approximately what she is supposed to have in total.

I did have to swap out the awesome quality stainless steel bowl with a plastic one. I am a light sleeper and when the feeder would go off at 2 a.m. it would wake me up. I could have changed the timer but with feeding every 4 hours it is going to activate at some point in the middle of the night.

And as another reviewed pointed out, just be careful if Kitty is on your lap when the feeder activates. It truly sounds like a Las Vegas slot machine, and your Kitty will be racing to the feeder as soon as he hears it, to the detriment of your skin if youre holding him!

In short, a wonderful product and an awesome company to do business with!
we can sleep in peace at night!     On: 2010-03-25

Our cat had finally figured out that if it wants food in the middle of the night, it should wake us and beg for food. Sometimes we gave in, sometimes we didnt. Even if we didnt every time, our cat still would have woke us up simply because she has nothing better to do at 3 in the morning. This feeder was the answer to our prayers.

Overall construction is plastic. Feels sturdy enough but well see the effect of many years of use will have on it. My guess is that parts like the plastic roller will need to be replaced eventually. Which if metal was used this problem may have been avoided. At the price tag you would think it would be built to last forever.

Dispenser is accurate to a degree of error. The more food you want per cycle, the less error you will experience. I started trying to get it to dispense exactly 5 pebbles ever 1.5 hours which is what i measured to be between a 0.5-1 cups of food which is what the food bag says my cat should be eating. However, sometimes only 2 pebbles came out. Other times it was closer to 10. This degree of inaccuracy gave me a range of about 0.3-1.5 cups of food which was not acceptable since my kitty has weight problems. So I increased it to 10 pebbles and upped the time to every 3 hours and its pretty accurate now. The 1-2 pebble error is only multiplied 8 times a day instead of 12 so this is the major source of my higher degree of accuracy.

I found the dispenser easy to adjust. The time is easy to set. Easy to set up. Overall, a very user friendly product that works great. I am definitely satisfied and would make the purchase again in an instant. My cat agrees.
Great Product     On: 2010-03-18

Feeder works great! Cat no longer associates me with the feeding process alleviating the constant need for him to follow me every time I stand up to leave a room. The only thing I would say is that the directions supplied with the kit are fairly weak. You can probably figure them out if you give it some time, but I would follow the link the seller includes in the email to the video demonstration.
I have owned 2 feeders for over 2 years     On: 2010-03-05

Now that I have owned this product for almost 3 years I can give a thorough review.
LIKES - it is dependable, its never broken down, and I dont have my two cats double teaming me at 5 in the morning to feed them. Once you set it, you are pretty much done, forever.... I can count on it 100%.
I had ONE issue last month, called tech support and spoke to the inventor HIMSELF! He was VERY helpful (VERY nice), stood by when I worked on trouble shooting the problem and stayed with me on the phone until we were sure it was back online.
DISLIKES - I wish it was quieter, but for the most part I sleep right through the noise - but its pretty loud. The very one thing I hate the most is that the bowl can move around. My cats cant get their noses under the shoot where most of the food collects, so they pull the bowl closer to them (and therefore out of the landing zone) so if I dont make sure its aligned before I go to bed, I find cat food ALL over the place. Its a real mess. If I could re-design it I would have the shoot higher up so there is easier access to the whole bowl, and I would put some kind of a bowl guard down to keep the bowl from moving. I might even put the bowl at a slant so most of the food slides to the front of the bowl.

For the most part I cant live without this product. If they ever broke down I would buy replacements in a heart beat!

Pretty good with a couple quirks     On: 2010-02-23

Pluses: Works and is well constructed.

Minuses:
(1) The quantity adjustment is hair-trigger senstitive. Theres no excuse for this in the electrical design. How about a multi-turn pot, or at least a usable full turn?

(2) What about simple battery backup? If both your A/C power and you are out, kitty starves to death. The supplied timer is clumsy, and a digital one would suffice much better.
AS ADVERTISED!     On: 2010-02-02

This feeder is wonderful. Its easy to assemble and program, and being able to control the amount of each feeding is great. I now feed my fat cat every 4 hours about 2 tbs. of dry food in an attempt to get her weight down. And after a week or so, Ive created Pavlovs Cat, for when she hears the feeder start up, she goes SPRINTING to her food. Plus this feeder has saved sleeping time. My cat used to scratch and bite me around 6:30am because shes hungry, but no more. So Ive finally found some sort of harmony with my cat.
Awesome product, all as promised!     On: 2010-02-01

I couldnt be more pleased with my new CSF-3 Cat Super Feeder. The Super Feeder company emailed me a video of "how to assemble". The feeder was very easy to assemble with this video. We had adopted a cat from the shelter that was abused and starved. Even though he now had a home and all the food he could want...If we left food in a bowl for him, he would eat the whole amount, then get sick. After two days of using the Super Feeder, he realized that food is always going to be available and he is not panicked. He is now calm and we dont have to interrupt our schedule to arrange his feedings.
The timer was easy to operate also. Cant say enough great things about the company and the product. Dont hesitate to purchase one!!
worked great     On: 2010-01-13

This was easy to set up using the online video instructions, and worked great. Our food-obsessed cat was unable to get into it while we were away for several days. Very pleased with this feeder.
Great feeder. Bad directions!     On: 2010-01-07

The directions on this thing are so completely wacked out. You cant really tell what the pictures are and there are directions for the feeder part in the front of the brochure and directions for the base on the back....but theyre 2 completely different sets of directions and somehow they come together... and you actually have to put the wall plug together. What??? Ive never read directions so confusing!

But the feeder is great once you figure the directions out... it makes a lot of noise when the food comes out but my cat has gotten used to it now.
Smelly bowl, horrible set-up, overall clumsy     On: 2010-01-04

One reason I bought this feeder is that it has a stainless steel bowl (many have plastic). However, the rubber rim on this bowl stinks so bad I had to throw it away. Cant say for sure, but if anything smelled toxic... and who wants that right up against their cats nose? The instructions for putting this together were some of the worst Ive ever seen. Overall, making adjustments to this feeder is very awkward. I would not recommend this feeder based on these issues.
The BEST cat feeder!!!     On: 2010-01-03

I have tried multiple automatic feeders for cat food and have had the same result: they jam. The food is too small, the gears arent crafted properly, etc. This one, however, is different (most likely b/c its Made in America)! I use small cat pellets (less than 1/4") and it has yet to jam. It is light on this base so my cats have figured out how to knock it over but I added extra weight and its no longer a problem. I have had this for a few months and have had 0 problems.
A premium product at a premium price     On: 2009-12-24

We bought this product so that we could get away for a few days without worrying about someone feeding our cats. The CSF-3 holds enough for at least 3 days for our two cats. The only complication is experimenting with the two mechanisms on it which control the volume of each feeding. But, it is worth the effort.
Wish I bought this years ago     On: 2009-12-22

I love the superfeeder! Monty, my cat, LOVES the regular feeding cycles. It gives me peace of mind knowing that when I cannot be there on time, he will still be fed. Setup was easy following the video links on the superfeeder website. Thank you for this EXCELLENT product! I wish I knew about this years ago!
finicky feeder     On: 2009-12-22

We purchased this feeder as we are often gone overnight or several days in a row.
Unlike the LeBistro feeder we returned to PetCo, our cat is unable to remove food by sticking his paw up into the chute. It is reliable most of the time, which gives us pause when leaving for prolonged periods. Our cat was able to knock the electrical connection loose easily, causing the feeder to fail to dispense food.
Customer support is helpful. Food bin holds about 1 weeks worth of food.

nice design, reliable, consistent     On: 2009-12-19

I purchased this super feeder after returning another feeder that was junk from the local pet store. This one is more money, but it works as advertised.
The feed mechanism with the horizontal wheel and "shaker" (which is a small moving panel near the wheel to keep the food from clumping or sticking) reliably dispense the food, and you can adjust it to your specific food size. Customer service was quickly responsive with my order, and it arrived in only 2 days.
I adjusted it to feed a small amount 4 times a day. I just push the reset buttom 4 times, and measure it, and adjusted it until 4 dispenses was right at half cup, just right for our cat. I was concerned food amount would vary with a full vs empty hopper, so I tested it, still half a cup, didnt matter if it was completely full or almost empty, very consistent!
I ordered it with the chute guard, but took it off. The chute guard worked fine it was just blocking half the bowl making it hard for the cat to reach all the food. I dont think the cat can get any food anyway, if she had claws I would probably leave the chute on though. Or if she somehow magically gets in there then I will reinstall the chute.
I think the components are quality and built to last but not industrial or anything. I do think the price is a little expensive, but when I compare it to the price of the piece of junk I had to return, I guess the price is competitive, definitely worth the difference. I would recommend this to a friend.
Awesome feeder     On: 2009-12-19

Love this feeder! Works like a charm. I like the analog timer too - it means that even if the power goes out for a bit, the cat will still get fed when it comes back on.

Truth be told, the thing we love most about this feeder is our cats interactions with it. Shes completely stopped harassing us for food, and now sits and quietly watches the feeder when its feeding time. Shes figured out that the timer has something to do with getting her food, and as it gets closer to feeding time shell actually sit and stare at the timer! I dont know if its a sound or visual based cue for her, but she definitely knows the timer triggers the machine.
Everything We Hoped It Would Be...And More     On: 2009-12-07

We have a wonderful, personable kitty who we adore. There was just one little problem...he begged for food constantly, woke us up often each night, started gaining weight right after we adopted him, and he hung out by the pantry for hours, just waiting for "the next meal". We tried lots of various techniques to turn him into a "grazer" type of eater, however his time living on his own had him programmed to eat everything in sight as soon as it appeared, and loudly demand more...often!

Well, the Super Feeder has made all of us (humans and kitty alike) very contented at this point, and I can assure you without any reservations that this product is worth every cent! It took a few minutes to set up, however the instructions were detailed and the customer service is excellent. Our cat was initially rather wary of his new "friend", and was alarmed by the noise of something falling into a metal dish. However! He quickly discovered that this was indeed food - oh happy day! The noise was worth it apparently, and within a couple of days, the noise became music to his ears. He completely stopped looking to us for his next meal, realizing that the Super Feeder was truly his meal ticket and new best friend. Over the course of several weeks, we adjusted the number of feedings so that he now gets fed six times in a 24 hour period. He grazes throughout the day and is no longer frantic for food. We are not woken up to desperate meows (translation: feed me, Im starving!) in the middle of the night, and he is back to a healthy and handsome weight.

This product has exceeded our expectations and we are very pleased with the results. Oh, and another unexpected bonus: we can take little trips away for several days, and kitty is just fine...fed on time throughout each day. Sweet! Also, the device is smaller than we expected. Based upon the photos, we just expected something larger...the actual size is nice, not really noticable (we have it placed between our kitchen and dining room).

Note: we ordered an additional, add-on chute, for a total of three (two stackable units come with the standard unit). This holds enough dry food for just over seven days, and we have a large cat - fourteen pounds.
Excellent Product!     On: 2009-12-03

I needed a feeder that would feed my ever-hungry cat small amounts throughout the day. This product fills the bill very well. My cat is never overfed and has stopped "whining" at me because he isnt getting fed when he wants to be fed. The feeder is well fabricated using high quality components. Some assembly and calibration was required, but the directions were clear and I had the feeder up & running in a very short time. I would recommend this feeder to anyone looking for a reliable feeder.
Cat Feeder is Purrrrfect     On: 2009-11-27

A few years ago we brought home a cat from the animal shelter. The cat was so skinny we thought it was a kitten. We had two cats previously from the shelter and over feeding was not an issue. This cat was not the same. She got so big that we thought she was pregnant (so did vet). So we stopped leaving food down but soon realized that she was going to wake up us earlier and earlier. We bought a L Bistro Petmate feeder and that worked OK until she figured out how to reach up and steal food (plus the machine stopped working reliably). We decided to spend the extra money to buy the Cat Super Feeder. This feeder does take some patience putting it together however it works much better than our last. Our cat cannot steal food and the simple timer is much easier to use (L Bistro required full written directions to change everytime). The food adjustment screw works well to modify the amount dispensed however it is real important you only turn it a very small amount. I mean a tiny amount!
I am really glad that people took the time to write positive reviews about this cat feeder. It is much better than the Petmate I had purchased the first time! We are really happy with the machine! Worth the extra money!
Best of breed     On: 2009-11-20

I absolutely love this feeder. It works flawlessly and holds enough food in the optional hopper to last a month. I no longer have to worry about going on an overnight trip because my cats will still be fed on a regular schedule. The included Woods timer is easy to set and is one of the best on the market. I can say from experience that a digital timer is not worth the trouble. I spent about $25.00 on a fancy digital timer from Intermatic and it failed within a month. I then started using the timer that came with the Super Feeder and it just works. What more could you want. I love my gadgets and I love this feeder. Its built to a much higher quality and standards than the usual brands and Im confident that Ill have this for years to come.
Super Feeder is the right name!     On: 2009-11-19

I purchaed this feeder two months ago to feed a cat who, as a stray, apparently learned to eat all the food available in the shortest time possible. When he reached 17 pounds, something had to be done. Clearly, allowing him to eat at liberty was not working. This feeder is the perfect answer. I found it easy to set up, although the directions on the website are better than the directions provided with the feeder. It has worked perfectly, feeding him 4 times per day, and it is entertaining to watch the cat run to the feeder as soon as it begins to drop food. The only problem is that the time adjustment, to set the time the feeder drive remains on, is very sensitive, but once adjusted the food drop is very reproducable. I checked the drop weight over a few days, and found it varied plus or minus 1/2 gram over the day. That is excellent reproducability. One caution; the feeder rate is most reproducable when the gap beween the food roller and the feeder bottom is set to be JUST SLIGHTLY less than the height of the food pellets so that it doesnt have to squeeze the food through the opening.

I highly recommend this feeder.
Works great.     On: 2009-11-17

Purchased this feeder in mid October 2009. I have it setup to feed my cat twice a day at 12 hour intervals. The portion is accurate and the device works very well so far. Only negative is the bowl can be easily pushed off its platform by the cat as it tries to reach all of the food. Have tried 2 other feeders before purchasing this one and this one by far is the best. Would highly recommend for a cat.
Excellent product and customer service!     On: 2009-10-26

I am VERY pleased with the CSF-3 Cat Super Feeder. It has the word "cat" in its name, but I bought it for my puppy (his dog food is very small, like cat food). I initially chose this feeder because I read a number of reviews that commented on how accurate this product is in dispensing small food compared to other feeders. After calibrating the feeder (very easy, just turning two knobs) and running several test runs, the CSF-3 now dispenses the exact amount of food my puppy needs.

CHEAT SHEET TO PRODUCT ASSEMBLY
After you purhcase this product you will receive a shipment notification email that has a link to a video with assemby instructions. I HIGHLY recommend watching this video. After watching it, setting up the feeder will be a breeze (i.e., 5-10 minutes). All you need to assemble the feeder that is not included is a phillips head screwdriver.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
I didnt properly protect the electric cord when I initially set up the unit, and my puppy chewed through the wire. I was able to order a replacement wire from the manufacturer, Super Feed, for only a few dollars (Google SUPER FEEDER ACCESSORIES to find the replacement parts link). However, I was very impressed that they emailed me to let me know they would be happy to process my order for the replacement part, but that the part was very common and that I likely had an extra wire at home that could fit the feeder. I checked, and I did have such a wire laying around.

Its refreshing to work with a family owned company that clearly cares about producing a top quality product and supporting it with top notch customer service. Im a customer for life. Keep up the good work guys!!!!
Another satisfied 5-star rater     On: 2009-10-07

I bought this feeder in early August and wanted to wait a bit to review. We have two Siamese siblings, Mork & Mindy, and Mr. Mork was driving me NUTS yelling for breakfast at 4:30 am. My most recent potential solution was to remove the human equation from their food, and so I revisited automatic pet feeders that Id looked at years ago but thought were too expensive. I read all the reviews here plus some others and finally decided on this, somewhat more expensive one. I echo many of the set-up comments but the video was clear as day. I made some simple adjustments to replace their twice-a-day dose of 2/3 cup of Iams with four doses of 1/3 cup. It took maybe four dry runs to get dispensation perfect, and Ive checked it periodically since and its still right on. We use the stainless steel bowl it came with, and truthfully I still get a chuckle every time it runs because it sounds like a Las Vegas slot machine paying off. The cats have no problem with it, but you DO NOT want them sitting in your lap when it goes off unless their claws are very well trimmed! ZOOOOOMMMMMM!

The machine is very sturdy, not very tippy (low center of gravity) and while Mork & Mindy were curious at first about where the food comes from and how to get more, theyve pretty much quit further study. One piece of advice I would give that I havent seen in these reviews is to be patient! Siamese are very vocal, Mork overly so, and he didnt stop meowing right away. Hed actually start 5 minutes BEFORE his first "payoff". And it took them a while to figure out that neither my wife nor I are responsible for sustenance. Were almost there, but I figure we had to undo seven years of their food habits and introduce new ones. All in all, totally worth it. Very little AM begging, and the periodic "FEED ME" during the day has totally disappeared. The hopper (I have the standard one) is easy to fill without unscrewing the retaining screws.

While the timer is very flexible and intuitive, recently weve found it to be quite noisy, especially early in the AM when its so quiet in the house and neighborhood. So I just moved the whole thing from the kitchen into the laundry room where their litter box is; problem solved. And I should say that the added bonus of being able to go away for a weekend without having to find someone to give them food is GREAT!
Absolutely LOVE this feeder!     On: 2009-10-07

My cat was getting a little chubby, and since hes missing a foot, thats even worse for him. I decided I wanted to get an automated feeder and looked at all of the amazon reviews before deciding. All of the other products, people said their cats were able to get into the food, knock the feeder over, or the feeder didnt work as expected. I decided to shell out the money for this one, and Im glad I did.

People have mentioned that this feeder is hard to set up - I didnt think so. I was really worried for some long hard set up process, but it was simple (Im an engineer - am I biased?). The setup consisted of screwing together a few parts, putting together the hopper and putting the bowl on the stand. There are several different screws, and the instructions are hard to read, however I felt it was rather intuitive.

I bought the feeder from amazon with the timer that you have to push the nubs out for feeding times. Once I had the feeder set up, I worked on setting up the food times. I use Science Diet Adult Indoor cat food, its shaped like a pyramid almost. It seems to work. I set up the "food size" selector, I actually opened it as far as it would go and just removed the set screw. No extra food is coming down. Then after not reading the directions, finally read the directions on the amount of food set screw - it is EXTREMELY fine adjustment. One end of the spectrum was spitting out one piece of food, and the other seemed to be a lot. I put it somewhere in the middle - at some point Ill measure. I set the timer for 4 times a day, and voila, done.

I did have to find a new food spot that had an outlet nearby, as the timer is kinda bulky. I also replaced the giant steel bowl with a shallow smaller silicon one. My cat did not like the other bowl at all, and it was loud. He took a few days to warm up to the feeder, but seems to be happy now, he knows that the sound is - he still flips out, and its rather hilarious. If you get this for a cat, you may want to think about replacing the bowl, as Ive read that a lot of cats dont like their whiskers to touch the bowl while they eat - and their whole head fits in this bowl ITS HUGE!

My cat has not tried to burgle any food out of the machine, but hes not the smartest. Hes getting more brave and has begun to investigate. The base is huge, so I dont think he can knock it over, and its screwed shut so go ahead and try to get more food Dexter! I also am not sure hes smart enough to stick his paws up the machine, I couldnt get my fingers in there, and I have small fingers - so I dont think hell get anything if he tries. A piece or two may get stuck during feeding times, but thats his allotted food anyways.

I think I may get another plastic hopper for the top, as Im refilling every 3-4 days I think, maybe sooner. I also keep a screwdriver behind the unit, so I dont get angry when I have to re-fill it.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a reliable self-feeder.
Thank GOD I found this!     On: 2009-09-15

I have to admit, I wasnt hoping to spend this much on an automatic pet feeder, but this one is WORTH every penny!
My obese cat, Petey, weighs in at 18.9 lbs....hes a tabby cat. OOPS! (Dont blame me, we adopted him at this weight in February, poor baby).

This feeder is Gods gift to me. You can set the amount of food you want (not in actual measurements like 1/4 cup, but you can turn the dial LITERALLY millimeters, and the amount of food dispersed will increase/decrease until you have it perfect). It has not failed me yet, and Petey has stopped begging for his food tremendously since I put him on auto timer. :)

I have to admit, assembling it was quite a challenge. The paper instructions are very poor, but there are instructional videos for additional help! It took me 2 hours...roughly. I was also worried at first because there is no way to indicate that the auto timer is working. You just have to program it, and wait for it to feed at your designated times. This left me uneasy, but I tested it for a day to make sure it was reliable, and it was!

HIGHLY recommended. It is a feeder that is made of good quality materials, and it looks like you spent a pretty penny on it..not flimsy or cheapy looking like so many others.

The customer service was impeccable! I panicked the night I received it due to my being unsure if the autotimer was actually working, and I actually received an email back after 9PM on a Thursday night!!

If you are in the market for an automatic pet feeder, THIS is the perfect one!

Solid, reliable, impossible for cat to break in to     On: 2009-07-24

I found the Superfeeder after discovering that my cat could break into any timed pet feeder on the market. I often have to take short trips, and my cat does not have the foresight that if she eats the whole pile of food now, she will be starving by the time I return home (I cant say Id be much better were I in her paws :) ). Along with doing its timed feeding job perfectly, this machine can withstand a full-on hungry feline assault from the highly trained feeder demolition team that is my cat. It completely blows away all competing models Ive tried; while its pricey and requires a little analog configuration, you wont regret purchasing this feeder.
Terrific Product!     On: 2009-07-17

Now our kitty lets us sleep in the mornings! As others mentioned, there is set up involved, but I was able to put everything together without my husbands help thanks to the easy-to-follow directions. There is also a video you can watch to make things even clearer. The machine is very sturdy and releases a precise amount of food based on the settings I created. After I filled the food dispenser, it fed our kitty about a 1/4 cup, 4 times a day for 7 days. She has a tendency to "scarf and barf," and she hasnt had one incident since using the feeder. Highly recommended!
Just a little tricky....     On: 2009-07-10

This was a good product. However, understanding the directions was a little difficult. They were so WORDY. If they can be simplified it would have been much easier. But other than that, I love it. My cats hear the clicking noise and theyre off to go eat.
Works Perfectly!     On: 2009-06-24

What a great product. I purchased this feeder to curb random food requests from my cat in the middle of the night. It has worked perfectly. I can now sleep through the night again. I would recommend this to anyone looking for the same relief or to a frequent traveler that might leave the house for several days at a time. Kind of pricey, but worth every dollar in my opinion.
Best So Far     On: 2009-06-16

Well constructed product that seems like it will last a long time. After some adjusting with the settings and timer it is accurate +/- a small margin of error. Gives me the freedom to go out in the evening and not worry about feeding my cat (she overeats and cant have "open-feeding.") And yes, she did figure out how to get her paw up the shoot in about one day- but it only occasionally ejects a few pellets so she usually gives up before it could make a difference with her portions. Overall, very happy and would recommend.
Great cat feeder     On: 2009-05-24

I like the CSF-3 cat feeder a lot. I had tried several cheaper plastic bettery-operated models (VERY difficult to program); and I decided to move up in class. I had limited time to set it up before a planned trip, so I emailed the manufacturer, and they kindly rushed it to me in plenty of time. You program it using a regular timer, and it couldnt be easier. You set the amount of food to come out by turning a screw, and it couldnt be easier. It seems really durable, too.
The company that makes it is very approachable and responsive. I emailed them about my hurry to receive it, and they responded right away. Theres even an set-up instruction video on the internet.
Should have bought this one first!!!     On: 2009-05-10

Awesome! Cats get fed, cats "mom" is happy! I can depend on this to work EVERY TIME! The assembly video on the manufactures website is spot on and I had them both together in no time. (yes, bought two for my three cats).

The owner was very responsive to my questions and I received everything very quickly. It works great for the small sized cat food that would jam up the other automatic cat feeders I had. After having had three Le Bistro pet feeders (one returned, two in the trash) I found the Super Feeder!! Thank goodness!!!

Excelletn feeder     On: 2009-04-24

I have had this feeder for over a month now and it just simply works with no hassle and puts out the exact same amount of food each time. Ive got one cat and I fill the hopper about once a week, or so. I have set it to run about 6 times per day, sending out a very small amount of food for each run. It is very simple to set up and operate, and once that is done you never have to mess with it again. And my cat has never been able to get food out of the shoot by sticking her paw up there. I did replace the stainless steel bowl that comes with it with a rubber/silicon bowl, as the kibble was quite loud dropping into it. It is a little more expensive than other brands, but it works as advertised, you can fine tune the amount of food and times per day it operates, and it is built in the US. Overall a great product. Would recommend.
Great, but not 100% sold on it     On: 2009-02-17

I researched feeders for several hours to find one that is worth its value. My main reason to purchase this was to put my two cats on a diet. While the feeder religiously does its job, my only main complaint, is Im not 100% sure it feeds the exact same amount each time. You set the size of the shoot and the length of time it dispenses food over, but it doesnt seem to be 100% consistent. It may be the size of the kibble I have to use (special cat food), but sometimes it feeds them too much or too little. The rest of the feeder is wonderful. Its easy to set to feed as many times per day as youd like, the bowl is not attached and easily washable, and the product is made of high quality parts. Now if it can only slim down my cats.
Excellent     On: 2009-02-11

This feeder has made my life far, far easier. While expensive, it was worth every penny. The assembly and programming for the manual timer was easy--took about 15 minutes.

My cat has ripped every other cat feeder weve had to pieces within a week or so. She used to beg for food incessantly. Were now feeding her four times a day and have been able to get a decent nights sleep--my girlfriend and I live in a smallish apartment and the cat used to be unbelievably loud when screaming for food at night.

She does rake around in the feeder opening for extra food, but Im surprised other reviewers have mentioned their cat actually got at the stored food in the feeder, as its quite well protected. The only food my cat can actually get to is the few pieces that have been caught in the passage leading out of the feeder--not to the actual store itself above. Her paws cant reach that far.

Overall a great product.
Excellent Product and Support     On: 2009-01-22

I have never written a product review, but we are so pleased with this product that I must write.
We had two or three questions before and after the sale and e-mailed the company. We received quick and thorough responses to our questions. Id encourage anyone considering this feeder to visit the companys website. There are many options and parts available for this feeder, and in fact we bought a double feeder from the website.
The product is well engineered and durable. It delivers an adjustable consistent quantity of food. We have rough and intelligent cats, and have had no problems with them defeating the mechanism.
Quite good, but not an answer to my problem     On: 2009-01-10

I think this feeder suffers from a problem many others do - simply its too simple for a cat to figure out where the food outlet is. And if a cat is as stubborn as mine, it will spend countless hours scratching and digging into it so the food will finally start to come out.
The difference in-between this one on other ones is that Super feeder is kind of funky, kind of home made looking. So its easier to come out with some kind of protection for the food outlet and screw it to the wooden stand. I had a few pieces of an old book shelf. I cut them and screwed them in such a way that my cats just cant reach the food outlet. It doesnt look pretty, but, well,... someday, someone, will come up with a feeder that is actually cat-proof.
The Cat's Meow     On: 2009-01-05

We recently inherited the 12 year old kitty after our daughters divorce, and have had the feeder for over a month; it does a fine job. First of all though, It took a couple weeks for the kitty to train me, but I believe were on track now. After instituting the right dosage and a twice a day feeding plan, I went down stairs one morning and he had pawed the pan off the base, and the food was on the floor. I used velcro tape to secure the pan back onto the base, and thought, well that does it. A few days later, I went downstairs and he had knocked the reservoir(we have the larger 1.5 gal) apart, and then the food was really all over the floor. Got it under control now, I just underestimated the little animal.
This was a good investment.
Best Cat Feeder by Far, Price cant' be beat!     On: 2008-12-06

This cat feeder is perfect. Ive had it for close to a year and its never let me down.
We have to feed our cat a special dental diet, and the food pieces were a little large for this feeder. Amazingly, the owner of the company was able to alter the opening for us so that the special food fits through the opening. And he did that for free!
My brother also has a cat and has tried many different cat feeders, including a $500(!) cat feeder. All the cat feeders he tried were either made of flimsy plastic and broke within 5 months or his cat was able to steal food from. He likes the $500 one he has, but it has issues with being cleaned every so often or it just stops working.
Not only is this one from Superfeed 1/4 the price, but it works perfectly. If only I had found this one before he bought his, I could have saved him a lot of money. Oh well!
Its a little bit of a pain to set up, but once its set you never have to touch it except to refill.
Highly recommmended. You wont be sorry! Absolutely worth the money.

Dont get me wrong, this is a great product, but as soon as I unpacked it and saw the thin electric cord I knew it was going to be a problem. I attempted to put tape over all exposed cord and tuck away the extra behind the feeder, out of sight. But my food-obsessed rescue cat got impatient with the feeder one day and chewed right through that flimsy cord. I wasnt home when it happened and I think she may have gotten a jolt, but I couldnt detect any injury to her. My one suggestion is that a more heavy duty cord be provided.

I agree with most of what has been posted, and only want to add the following; I hooked up my Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain to the same timer as this feeder, so the water is running for 15min after this food dispenser has refreshed the bowl. The idea is to encourage drinking when cats need it most; just after eating dry food. This approach saves electricity and water refilling from the water evaporation loss suffered by leaving the fountain on all the time. I had my own quality timer, so I purchased the CSF3, Bowl and chute cover (optional) directly from their web sight. Cut&Paste this link to see and hear this feeder in action -

Exactly what I have been looking for....     On: 2008-09-16

Ive had this feeder for over 6 months and could not be any more happy with it. Yes, it is considerably more expensive than the other automatic feeders out there, but this one is worth its weight in gold. My chihuahua was always asking to be fed, and the poor little guy was getting so fat. Im a med student and have very irregular hours, so I was looking for a feeder that could feed a few tablespoons of food several times a day. This one can do just that. You can adjust the machine to dispense as much (or little) food as your pet needs .. Now hes on a schedule and takes off running to his feeder when he hears it dispensing his food. He loves it and doesnt ask for food between meals anymore. When he goes to stay with my mom, I make sure the feeder goes with him. Theres no way I could keep him at a healthy weight without it.
Excellent, but could use a few tweaks     On: 2008-05-13

The feeder works great and is really well thought out and has so far been cat proof. Despite a few minor complaints, I still feel it deserves 5 stars. Initial setup takes some time but allow a high degree of control. This kit includes a standard outlet wall timer, which not only makes programming very easy, but also means you will never lose your programming.

My only suggestions are to replace the top screw with a thumbscrew to make refilling easier, add some sort of clips to hold the bowl in place, and perhaps add some sort of retention mechanism to the barrel plug so it cannot be so easily unplugged.
The Ultimate Pet Feeder     On: 2008-04-01

This feeder is worth every penny. I own two evil-genius cats that collaborate with each other to overcome all of the restrictions I attempt to enforce. I purchased an automatic Bistro feeder about a year ago to isolate ourselves from the feeding process; the cats found a way to extract food from it almost immediately. After months of being annoyed at all hours of the night by our cats attacking the Bistro, I opted for a Super Feeder.

The Super Feeder arrived unassembled with easy to follow instructions. The assembly process took about five minutes and familiarized me with all of the high quality components. I also purchased a "hood cover" to prevent my little devils from stealing food from the machine. The Super Feeder is brilliantly simple. It comes with a high quality power timer that cycles the power on and off at user set intervals. A small hidden dial controls the length for which the machine dispenses food. This analog control allows for an infinite level of feeding precision (unlike the Bistros huge intervals). The Super Feeder also features a jumper that will restrict the machine from feeding more than once in a (approximate) 45 minute period. This prevents the machine from feeding more than once in the event of a power interruption during a feeding cycle.

The Super Feeder was made for nerds like me. I have mine attached to a network power controller next to my server cabinet. I wrote several UNIX shell and expect scripts to control the feeding behavior. The cats are fed at every even hour of the day (12 times a day). This prevents the cats from getting too excited when food is dispensed and prevents overeating and eating too quickly. I also authored a password protected website that allows me to feed the cats from anywhere in the universe with the click of a button, as well as capturing a photographic image of the cats eating so I know that they are safe and that the feeder is working correctly. Every time the cats are fed I receive a page to my telephone showing me the output of the scripts to verify that everything is working correctly.

Ive had the feeder for a while now and it has proved to be smarter than my mischievous cats. The machine operates quietly, reliably, and consistently. It has never jammed, failed to feed properly, or under/overfed. Support for this product is also wonderful. When I purchased the additional 1.8 gallon food hopper I received answers to my emails within 10 minutes of sending them after 10pm PST. Do yourself a favor, buy this.

Great Product     On: 2008-01-11

I got this as a christmas gift and I feel it is a great product. Before the Super feeder our cat was fed twice a day, at 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.. By the time 4:00 a.m. arrived our cat was so hungry that he would do everything in his power to wake us up (He has no shame) and when we got home after work it was impossible to get in the house without getting mauled by the cat. Now he is fed every two hours automatically starting at 4:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.. We now sleep until the alarm clock goes off and we have been able to minimize the amount of food he gets per day. Setup was easy and took no time at all to set the gap width for Iams cat food and to dial the timer and cycle time to my desired setting. The double hopper that is provided gives me about 8 days worth of food and the feeder is very accurate. I made a custom stand to hold the feeder in place (see customer images) and I would recommend this product to anyone with a hungry animal that is unwilling to wait for you to feed him.

Best feeder on the market     On: 2007-07-15

Great communication directly from the owners of the store/product. This product is actually made in the U.S.

The model you are looking at is the best choice because it comes with everything you need to set it up and get going IN your house.

It is made up of very simple components and I know it will last a long time.
