My dogs are short-haired (Vizsla and GSP) and it does not take long to notice a visible difference in the skin and coat with wild salmon oil. I feed premium, high-performance food but salmon oil still makes a difference even with already healthy coats. Just one aquirt into their dry organic pet food and the wonders it does for them are endless. Love Grizzly Salmon Oil On: 2010-08-07Last fall, we discovered, after doing x-rays, that our 6 year old dog Dooper has abnormal hips. He used to come up limping after agility and Frisbee catching so thats why we did the x-rays. A canine nutrition specialist recommended using this product to help protect and ease his pain and lubricate his hips. It works! Using it daily, adding to his food, he loves the taste and we see great results. We havent seen him limp or act "stiff" in quite a while, fortunately. Helps make his coat look glossy too. Love the pump feature though it does drip a little when we put it up in the fridge so we put a paper towel under it. P.S. We were told too that he should have Vitamin E supplement so that his body properly absorbs the Salmon Oil. Works great On: 2010-08-02I have been giving my two boxers this salmon oil for about four months. After about two months, I noticed how good their coats looked. Before they were okay, but now they have that healthy looking shine. They also love the taste of it. One of my dogs wont eat his kibble unless Ive squirted some salmon oil on it. I have noticed a gradual decline in his energy the past few years, he would just lay on the couch all day and not want to play at all, the vet said he was just getting older. In years past he would always catch birds in the back yard and bounce around the house with his toys running from place to place. Sometimes there food has little or no amino acids or the needed oils that your dog requires for a healthy diet. this product meets those needs. Great Product. Great for the dogs skin... On: 2010-06-08We have a Golden Retriever who tends to have dry skin therefore leading to flakes or dandruff. We use this on his food and within a week is skin is great, his coat looks thick and shiny and he seems to like the flavor. We ran out about 2 months ago and we decided to let it ride. Within two weeks his dry and flaky skin returned. If you have a dog with dry or flaky skin I would highly recommend trying this product. Great Product On: 2010-05-18The Grizzly salmon oil really is as great as everyone says it is. Both my dog and cats love it and their coats have never looked better. I have been putting it on their food for a few weeks now and the cats dander is almost completely gone. My dog also scratches noticeably less, so it has relieved her itchy skin. This product is also a great value for the size. I priced similar items in local pet stores, and they usually cost about 2x as much. Dog Approved! On: 2010-05-15My dogs love the taste of this and I love the improvements Ive noticed! Their coats are shiny and healthy and they even seem more active. I believe this supplement has also helped my older dogs bowel movements and made it easier for him to go. We keep it in the fridge per other reviewers suggestions and weve never had a problem. We keep the 32 oz since were using it for two dogs. I give 2 pumps each in the morning. The only suggestion I would make is to maybe redesign the pump to have cap so you dont need to be concerned about leaking in the fridge. I always wipe with a paper towel. I have used Fish oil supplements in the past and getting this pump is significantly easier than using the twist caps for dogs that sometimes pop and get on your clothes. I will be ordering this for a longtime to come. Great Product. Simple: Alaskan Bear Treats is of a better quality.  On: 2010-05-14Grizzly Salmon is a decent salmon oil supplement but we found that the Alaskan Bear Treats was a better quality of oil in color, smell, and freshness. Just our opinion and we found the Grizzly brand to be a bit too strong in smell and lingered way too long on our 100+lb dogs. If youre using a salmon oil to supplment then you likely cant go wrong with regard to the benefits as long as its wild (not farm raised) and of a good manufacturing quality. Both Grizzly and Alaskan Bear brands are good but we liked the Grizzly better for the aforementioned reasons. Excellent product On: 2010-05-08I have an English Bulldog who suffers from a very dry skin and ever since I started giving him the Grizzly Salmon Oil his skin feels so much more soft and healthy. You need to be steady in adding the oil to the meals of your pet and for sure youll notice the difference just need to be patient cause doesnt happen over night, I would say it takes about one month to see results. But definitely a great value! GRRRRREAT!!!! On: 2010-05-03My dog has severe skin allergies that carry a horrible odor that was stinking up my house; I was told by our vet to add fish oil into her diet. I started off using fish oil capsules that I would open and pour onto her food, but it was very messy and smelly. I found this product and love the convenience--I just squirt it on her food and she loves the taste and best of all--she doesnt stink! Great product!!! On: 2010-04-26I have been giving this salmon oil to my 2 year old long coat shepherd for a little over a year. He had dry skin & his coat didnt look that great. After giving him the oil, his dry skin has improved and his coat looks absolutely gorgeous. We have been adding the oil to his food ever since. We even started giving it to our 5 month old short coat shepherd as well. working On: 2010-04-22I am rateing the Grissly Salmon Oil 3 stars as of now....it might be a little too early to give a true review as other users have said it takes a few months to really know. Much better coat for our greyhound On: 2010-04-21I initially bought a small bottle of this from a local store but have come to Amazon to stock up. We recently adopted a retired racing greyhound and after just two weeks her coat is looking better. Recommendations were made to try fish oil capsules but this is just easier & less messy. We do keep it in the fridge with no problems, and our girl just inhales it. I did see where a couple of reviewers had mentioned a fishy smell to their dog after using this. We have not had this problem at all. Were using the recommended amount and other than fishy-smelling breath for a few minutes, arent having any problems with oders. Highly recommend. my four dogs love it! On: 2010-04-07All four of my dogs love this salmon oil. Previously, I used cod liver oil on the dogs food, which sometimes they did not totally finish eating, but with the salmon oil, their bowls are wiped clean. The pump is very convenient to use, no drips. I have yet to try this on the cats food, but Im sure they will also like it. A real dog pleaser On: 2010-04-01Our two dogs love the oil. We mix a pump-full with their special chow each evening. Watch out. Dinner is becoming a real favorite since weve introduced the oil. We keep it in the fridge so it stays fresh. Great product. Helped with my Pomeranian's coats!! On: 2010-03-24Totally great product. My dogs have severe allergies and all they can eat is fish. I add his to the dry food and they act like there is GRAVY on it. Crack for Dogs On: 2010-03-19Although the thought of pink fish oil being pumped out of a giant bottle makes my stomach turn, my old mutt does back flips for this stuff. It's a hit On: 2010-03-18I initially bought this product for the vitamin value only for my 3 year old lab mix. She LOVES the flavor and literally licks her bowl clean 2-3 times, just to make sure. The recommended dosage for her weight is 3 pumps, which I break up into 1 1/2 pumps 2 times a day with each feeding. I was skeptical about it making her coat shine, but after about 3 weeks, it has absolutely shined up and her coat feels softer which is an added bonus! I keep it refrigerated and buy it in 32oz bottles so it doesnt go rancid. I will continue to buy this product as I am happy with the results! Grizzly Salmon Oil On: 2010-03-15Hard to judge my dogs opinion of this. He doesnt get any people food except leftover vegies. He always gives me a funny look when hes done with his morning salmon oil. Maybe hes thanking me. He eats his food that I put it on so I guess its good. Living in Minnesota the winters get pretty dry and hes not always scratching when hes getting his salmon oil. I do keep it in the refrigerator so it doesnt go bad. Good Stuff! On: 2010-02-11This stuff so far has worked for my weimaraner. He was getting really flaky from dry skin and losing a lot of hair on his back... I have been putting grizzly on his food once a day and it has worker great! His coat is so shiny and not flaky at all Great On: 2010-02-10I actually use this for my cat as she is plus sized (much cheaper than buying the cat version). Her vet recommended it as she has dry and dull fur with dandruff. So far her fur seems to be getting more shiny and the dandruff improving. She loves it, though she is highly food motivated so that is not really a surprise. Works for dog's nails too! On: 2010-01-29This oil worked wonders for us! Our (extremely active) 18 month old mixed breed was having a lot of problems with his nails - they were very brittle and would split and break off constantly causing a lot of pain and bleeding. The problem was intensified when winter rolled in with the dry air and constant running on frozen ground. We started him on this oil and within two weeks his nails looked healthier and stronger, no splitting. He has not broken a nail since! Love it. My Boy On: 2010-01-07My youngest dog is a single coat mutt and he has irritating skin allergies. He was always scratching. We have added this to his dinner every evening for the last month and his redness has subsided and he isnt scratching very often anymore. I will be purchasing a refill for him. Good stuff!! Amazing Salmon Oil for my dogs On: 2009-12-29Love this product and really loved the price and ease at getting it online from this company. Good product, fishy smell On: 2009-12-01This is a solid product and will help your dogs coat be sleek and shiny. The only bad part is that it has a very fishy smell. Not a problem if your dog eats the food right away, but can be a bit much if the food sits around for hours. Salmon Oil and Arthritis On: 2009-11-09The light of my life, Sand Anastasia, my Golden Retriver, was diagnose with severe arthritis. She couldnt walk. When I started giving her 6 table spoons of salmon oil with her food it was like a miracle. Sand is 11 years old and she can walk easily 3 and half miles daily without complains. I recomend this product one million percent!!!! Excellent for furry coats On: 2009-11-09I give my three dogs Grizzly Salmon Oil once a day. I stopped for a while and saw a difference in their coats. Using this product allows them to have a healthier, shiny coat. I highly recommend it. Best value is the 64 oz; large but reasonable. It took some adjustments, but it is wonderful. my dog loves this stuff On: 2009-09-29My newfoundland cant get enough of this stuff. He loves the addition of this salmon oil to his food and his coat and skin look better than ever. High Quality Salmon Oil On: 2009-09-29This product has helped my greyhounds dry flaky skin problem. He is 76 lbs.and gets 5 squirts twice a day. He absolutely loves the taste. The vendor shipped quickly. It is very difficult to find this large size with other retailers. I will be ordering from them again. Good Product With a Major Fake Pricing on Amazon On: 2009-09-11This is a good quality product and I would use it. But.. you can get omega 3 pills at discount vitamin houses and give to your pet for a fraction. Worse..this supposed discount from over $70 is a blatant lie. Beautiful coats On: 2009-07-17I have been putting this supplement on my two cocker spaniels food since I brought them home at eight weeks. They are now 7 and 8 months old and their coats are bright, shiny and gorgeous. does a body good On: 2009-07-13i decided to buy this product after seeing its good reviews. my dog was dealing with a case of Cheyletiella mites and thus her skin was itchy, flaking, and scabby, and her fur was quickly falling out due to all the scratching. using the salmon oil in conjunction with a flea shampoo (heard it worked for these type of mites), she is already doing much much better after only 2 days. josie (the dog) isnt entirely impressed with the taste but if i mix in some wet food all is well. wouldve given this product 5 stars if she actually thought it was tasty, but taste varies from dog to dog and apparently a lot of other dogs think its delectable. Helps dry skin On: 2009-06-29I got this because our chocolate lab was suffering from extreme dry flaky skin. We saw a big improvement right away. Her skin isnt 100% flake-free but it definitely is MUCH improved! I will continue to use this product for both my dogs to help keep there skin and coat healthy! My Boston's have done well with this product On: 2009-05-31I have two Boston Terriers, of one which has a leg injury from puppyhood (she had a leg injury to her tibia which followed with a luxated patella that underwent several surgeries but could not be completely repaired). I started using the Grizzly Salmon Oil for her from the age of 5 months to help with the repair of her leg (I felt it couldnt hurt and could possibly help) and also for the other benefits such as good coat and health. Shes 1 year and 8 months old now and is walking on her leg most all the time and doesnt seem to be in pain with it. I feel the salmon oil supplement has been helpful for her joint health. I also have been giving it to my younger Boston Terrier (aged 8 months). I am very satisfied with the Grizzly Salmon Oil product but am going to try the Alaskan Bear Treats brand of dog salmon oil next. I couldnt help but notice that its price is a bit cheaper right now compared to the Grizzly Salmon Oil. However, I want the best for my dogs. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the two brands? Overall, I would recommend Grizzly Salmon Oil. It has helped my dogs stay active and healthy with beautiful shiny coats... they look like little seals! Also, they have not experienced unwanted weight gain or any other side effects from using this product. Their weights are very healthy. Also, I do not notice bad breath from this much. I mean, sure right after they eat it but their breath would smell like whatever they ate afterward anyhow. Great Supplement On: 2009-05-05With two rescued dobermans with skin conditions, adding to their diets really keep inflamations down. Such a simple solution for a bad problem. On: 2009-04-28I got this product for my 30-month-old Corgi/Chihuahua after my vet recommended getting a supplement with fatty acids due to the fact he chronic dry skin. Within a month he was doing great. His coat is very shiny even if it has been almost a month since his last bath. The funny thing is if you smell his scalp, he smells like fish! This is more of a funny thing than a problem. I bought a big bottle for a little dog (only one pump a day) so I keep it refrigerated per the advice of an earlier review. tasty! Great Product On: 2009-03-19I have been giving this to my dogs for years. I first found out about it when my Bischon and Schnauzer started having age related illnesses. The vet suggested I add it to their food for overall health benefits. I now give it to my 2 new Schnauzers as part of their daily routine. It is wonderful for their coats and great for my Giants joints. I think it tastes pretty bad but they love it! Pepper would lick it right off a spoon. I wish I had the same results on my own skin! On: 2009-03-18I have a golden retreiver and a chow/retriever rescue dog and both dogs have skin problems and hot spots. Our rescue dog was a mess, and it cleared his skin as well as my goldens " allergy related" hot spots, which saved me from putting him on antibiotics, then the cone on the head and lastly the wonderful diahrea that would come after the antibiotics!! As another side benefit, their coats look fabulous!! I started using the product a couple of years ago because of the hot spots and for better health, not for the look of their coats. Excellent for Hair Re-Growth On: 2009-01-26One of my dogs contracted auto-immune hemolytic anemia 16 months ago. While she was on steroids (prednisone and imuran), her hair fell out and became extremely dry and dull. Grizzly Salmon Oil has corrected all of that: Shadow now has a dense, shiny healthy coat. As an added bonus, so do her three canine siblings! Save yourself some $$ on pet medication; get this instead. On: 2009-01-12Great product; I buy it consistently. My 4 year old Chessie has severe arthritis in both front paws(degenerative carpi). She retrieves every day with either a frisbee or ball. So when I noticed she was having problems with her joints, I checked into the Grizzly Salmon Oil. There was an immediate difference...on the weeks we were on the road without it, she would hurt her wrists from playing. We do not have near the problem we did with her since shes been on the Grizzly Salmon Oil and her joint vitamins (with MSM and Glucosamine). So let me save you the $[...] on the visit to the orthopedic specialist for your dog if you think they have arthritis. It had been a year since I had seen a specialist so I took her in. I found out at the orthopedic specialist that giving her Omega 3 Fatty Acids and vitamins which contain MSM and Glucosamine was the best I could do for her. So, I really paid $[...] to find out that I was doing the right thing.He offered to give her Rimadyl, but said that giving her the above was the natural way. In short, it is a great product. Good product needed help with shipping On: 2008-11-30The product is just fine - however, since this product is OIL - it should be checked well before shipping to make sure the screw top is tight enough to keep the oil inside the bottle. The box arrived with oil throughout - needed a major wipe down to set the bottle out for use. Great Product On: 2008-11-18This is a great addition to your dogs regular dog food. I have been adding it to my 4 dogs food and they eat it up and their coats shine. I would recommend this product. Did it do anything? Anything at all?  On: 2008-10-21I have two dogs, one of which scratches for no apparent reason. No fleas, maybe some type of skin irritation? So I get a monster bottle of this fish oil. The dog that doesnt have a scratching problem just loves this stuff - would drink it out of the bottle if possible. The itchy little dog has no interest in it, but will reluctantly eat food with some oil dripped on it. I have now used up the bottle. The results? I tried, I really, really tried, but I could not tell any difference in the dogs after three months of twice daily servings of this oil. Coats looked no better or worse. Itchy dog is still itchy. Shih Tzu and "Reverse Sneezing" On: 2008-10-10My Shih Tzu was suffering from reverse sneezing so bad this past September that it was happening several times a day. Skin and Coat On: 2008-08-03My dog has the best skin and coat with this product. Highly recommended if your dog has dry or itchy skin. Great for animals with itchy skin On: 2008-07-31I have a Lab mix that has itchy skin and sometimes scratches himself hairless in certain places like under his arms/legs and belly. I put about three squirts in his food morning and night for about a month and noticed he wasnt scratching much anymore and his hair was growing back. A couple people said his coat looked nice (not knowing Id been using this). When I ran out, I thought Id continue the experiment to see if there would be any difference. Within a matter of weeks, he started getting itchy all the time again. I bought some more and started him with two squirts per meal. After a couple weeks of this, hes still itchy sometimes but not as much. I think Ill up his dosage to three squirts again. I just wanted to see if it was the product that was making the difference. My conclusion is that is does seem to help. Im comforted that he is more comfortable (kills ya to see your dog itching all the time). And this is certainly cheaper than taking him into the vet to be treated every time he gets too aggressive with his scratching. Works wonders for my dog!!! On: 2008-03-30My 11 year old black lab has had chronic dry skin/dandruff and dull coat for the past few years, although she had a beautiful, healthy shiny coat as a young dog. In spite of the premium foods I have tried to give her to correct the problem, nothing improved her condition until I tried salmon oil on a whim. He has soft fur as is and Im not really sure the oil makes much of a difference. Im also not sure that the small amount that I put in this food really flavors it or if its undetectable. I will continue to use this product bec it doesnt seem to hurt, but I cant say for certain that its really the product that makes a difference. Grizzly was the only one I could find that didnt add extra ingredients. We have used it for a month and my dogs coat is greatly improved. I would highly recommend this product. On: 2008-02-09Amazon has the best price I have found for Grizzly Salmon oil. Both of my Greyhounds and my Golden Retriever have shown improved coats and skin with this product, after using it once a day (3 pumps for large dogs)for 1 month. All 3 have much softer hair and their dry skin has all but disappeared. The greyhounds actually have grown in more hair on their stomachs and thighs. The oil is convenient to use and the 32 oz size would last 1 large dog approximately 3 months. All 3 enjoy the taste and the smell is not that offensive at all - very mild! The product also has omega 3s and 6s, so there is a heart-healthy benefit as well. Super Shiny Coat! On: 2008-02-08This is my 2nd bottle of Grizzly Salmon Oil and it wont be my last. Using this oil has made my Golden Retrievers less itchy and super shiny. I give 2 pumps per dog every day and they dont seem bothered by the flavor so it must be good. I have two bulldogs that eat in different rooms and they each have their own bottle and get 3 squirts on breakfast meal. They love it. My male came from KS and both of the parents had dry, flaky noses as did most of the dogs at that breeder. Since then Ive noticed the crunchy nose on many other bulldogs. My boy has had perfect nose leather from day one and been on Grizzly since he was 12 weeks old. Finding Grizzly Salmon Oil was a stroke of luck, indeed. Excellent supplement On: 2007-12-23Within a week after adding this to my dogs food daily I noticed a significant decrease in scratching and foot licking. The pump bottle makes it really easy to just add a squirt when Im getting their meal ready. I followed the dosing instructions with the first bottle, but cut it back to two squirts per dog afterwards. This seems to work just fine for my German Shepherds (both over 80 lbs). Help for skin allergies On: 2007-02-25Grizzly Salmon oil was recommended by the local pet store to help my yellow labs skin allergies. I have been using it for about 8 months to help with reddening and itching of her paws. This along with elimination of certain snacks has helped a great deal. Shes been on it for about a year, 2x daily. Then again, shes about 11 years old and her coat is beginning to change, less shinny and vibrant. My hope is that the oil does just that. Does Exactly What It Says It Will Do On: 2006-05-08More than likely this will improve your dogs coat and improve it fast. In my experience high quality salmon oil (meaning it is wild caught, NOT farm raised which can have mercury in it) is the fastest working, most effective supplement to make your dogs skin and coat healthier with a show ring luster (It does it by helping the body produce more natural oil. A lack of oil leaves fur dry, dull, and brittle and a lack of Omega 3 Fatty Acids (which this is crammed with) can make the skin irritated because it doesnt have enough omega 3 to properly care for itself.) To give you an idea how fast this works. I had a dog with severly dry skin and a dry coat (so bad it made me itch if it rubbed against my skin) that showed improvement in just a week or two and hes been getting better ever since. I had another dog whose coat was slightly dry and this got it into good condition in about two weeks. Now when I brush my dogs they have oil in their coat for the brush to spread around and make it shiny and the skin is supple. However, you must brush your dogs coat once or twice a week because now that the coat is producing normal amounts of oil you need to make sure it spreads over the entire shaft of the hair (which brushing does) or it will start to feel gunky whereas if the oil is spread around the dog will just feel very nice. As another bonus, whenever you bathe and shampoo your dog (which washes the oil out), the time it takes for the oil to replinish itself in the fur will be much shorter! Great Product On: 2006-04-27My dog has pretty bad allergies, and is constantly biting and itching. This product helps out a lot, better than a lot of things that the vet has tried to sell us on. The dog loves the taste too! My only issue with this product is that with every bottle I have purchased, the pump dispenser breaks half of the way through the bottle.
