![]() Cream Cat Napper By: Flexi-Mat Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 16 More Information Flexi-mat Cat Napper has disappeared into JLA Home My cats both love this product, and the cover is starting to wear thin. Ive searched the web for Flexi-mat CatNapper replacement covers and for Flexi-mat Corporation. Turns out Flex-Mat Corp. was bought by JLA Home in 2007, and there is no sign of any cat products at the JLA Home website--its all about dog beds there. So Im going to enlist a friend who sews to make a replacement cover--how hard could it be. I hate throwing away good plastic, and the frame shows no signs of wear, besides I doubt I could find a replacement for the whole CatNapper at this point--most websites are reporting it is out of stock. Catnapper My cat loves this catnapper. Its like a hammock and it appears to be very comfortable unlike the window perches that are just shelves. With the window open she will sleep there all day. Easy to put together. This could be your cat's favorite place I have 3 cats, and they all romp around on this, but my male kitty lays on this for probably a good 12 hours a day...NOT exaggerating. Weve had it many years now, and although my kitty is a little on the heavy side, this stands up to his weight and has never given us a problem. Kitties have gotten sick on this, and washing it is not a big deal either. Considering how much use this thing gets on a DAILY basis, its an absolute must! Fabric doesn't stay in place Ive had this product for over a year now, and it worked great when my cats were kittens. As they grew, though, and maxed out at about 11 pounds each, the fabric wouldnt stay in place; the little nubbies that are supposed to catch the fabric dont (and in some cases, the fabric has ripped) and cause the area the cat sits in to suddenly lower and a gap occurs between the window ledge portion of the frame and the material. The first time it happened, my cats backside slid right into that gap and she got hung up there. The second time, a few moments ago, the cat managed to jump away, but thats it, its getting taken down. Im afraid theyre going to get hung. I can see no way of securing that fabric so that it doesnt do this; it cant be tucked under the frame because it then blocks the velcro securing it to the window sill. The only style window seat acceptable to my cat This is the 4th Cat Napper I have purchased and it is the only style of window seat Ill buy my cat. In the past the Cat Napper was always in the bedroom and my cat spent a lot of time napping on it. I was not certain of the source of my cats interest, if it was the hammock style or the preference of sleeping in the same room as me. When I moved, I put a new platform style bed with a similar cover in the bedroom window and I put a new Cat Napper in the living room window. She started sleeping in the living room; I dont think she used the platform at all. After 2 weeks, I swapped locations. My cat returned to the bedroom with the Cat Napper. I think it is safe to say it is the hammock style that makes the difference. The cover is a pain to wash, I have to disassemble the entire perch to get it off. And the fur gets so embedded that it never does come completely clean. Of course, washing it more frequently may help. Also, my cat is 13 lbs so the velcro does not hold. Attaching it to the sill via screws prevents middle of the night crashes. My cats love this window perch! Ive bought several of these Flexi-Mat Catnapper window perches for my cats over the past 6+ years. My cats sit/sleep on it every day and both of them really love it! I have never had any problems with the frame breaking as another reviewer mentioned. The only issue Ive had is that the fleece bed part stretches/wears out eventually, but the lifespan of the fleece is pretty good as far as Im concerned - I think Ive probably bought replacements about every 2 years or so because of this (supposedly you can just buy a replacement fleece cover from Flexi-Mat, but Ive always just purchased an entirely new Catnapper.) Your cat will love this! My cat loves his cat napper. He gets to look out the window, is elevated high enough to see most everything thats going on in the house and he looks pretty darn cute in it too. Hes gone from trying to balance himself on the back of the couch, to hanging out in style and comfort. Im just waiting for spring to come so I can put it in a window facing the backyard. The reasone I gave it four stars was because setting it up took a little more time than I thought, but its not very difficult. The velcro that is used to stick the napper to the window ledge doesnt stick the best, but its enough. Ive had it for two weeks now and the cat has jumped, pounced and launched himself off of it many times and it has not fallen off yet. Cat's love it I looked everywhere for a shelf that both my cats could fit in. The design on this makes it very comfortable for both. we thought we would have to drill into the window sill like with previous cat shelves, but the velcro on this is industrial strength. Not sure why or how you could break the plastic on this, as suggested in a previous review, as it is very strong. Our kittens are Savannahs and are expected to get quite big. Not sure if they will both fit when full grown but as you can see in my customer images they fit fine for right now. Cat's love it I looked everywhere for a shelf that both my cats could fit in. I have the #1 most finicky cat ever and she absolutely LOVES her cat napper! What else can you say, when shes happy, Im happy..:-) It also really does fit in any window. We have no window ledges and all we had to do is use the screws and screw it into the inside of the window and its as stable as it could be. You will love it, as will your cat! My kitties do love this and I am glad that I bought it. My only complaint is that when they lie on it the cover moves off the frame a little in the front because there is no way to keep it tacked underneath. Besides that its great. And the velcro attachment is actually strong enough to hold up with two cats jumping on and off it all the time. Years of Cat Napping Pleasure For napping in the suns warmth or watching the outdoors, the Cat Napper for years now has been a daily pleasure for my cats. My 2 customer images show how even heavy cats can enjoy the Napper: One picture shows a 12 lb and a 16 lb cat both in the Napper, but its sagging, so I provided it with a bit of underneath support, with the adaptation shown in the other picture. The Nappers cover comes off for periodic cleaning. Also, its never broken, unlike another perch I owned. Cats love it! My kitties do love this and I am glad that I bought it. My cats cant get enough of sleeping and soaking in the sun on this cat napper. It also helps keep them off of my living room white couch to!Make yourself and your cats happy and get this! purrrfect easy to install and it holds both of my fat cats! (at the same time even!!!!) and they love it too! i also purchased one of the snuggle safe heating discs (another amazing product) and i slip it in the fleece liner so my sphynx cat can stay extra wam and cuddly during this harsh winter. My cats love this! I bought two of these- one for the dining room and one for my bedroom. The cats just love them both! The hammock design seems to be very comfortable as opposed to the hard surfaced window perches. They both fit in it- one of my cats is 13 pounds and one is 6 pounds, both full grown. Very easy to assemble. I put one of those self-warming mats inside one of them for the winter time which they seem to really enjoy. I would recommend these to anyone with a cat. They started using them almost immediately! Won't last longer than 8 months! We loved our cat napper, well, our cats loved it! They sat in it every day for about 8 months. Sometimes theyd sit together, but mostly apart (one is 8 pounds, one 10). Unfortunately the frame broke. Both plastic sides snapped and broke, rendering it useless and dangerous since it broke when one got on it. I do NOT recommend something that will break in 8 months!! ***UPDATE- I did email Fleximat directly and they are sending me a new frame free of charge. I just hope these last longer, but was very pleased at their willingness to rectify the situation!*** the best thing...ever.... Kitty loved this window hammock so much! Unlike, the other window seats that are like a hard plastic shelf, this hammock droops down when she sits in it-so comfy! She just loves it! Plus..it keeps her off the counter, table, or any other thing she decides will help her get the best look at Mr. Squirrel. It doesnt screw into the wall either. It uses balance legs and a mega strip of velcro is helpful. This item is a must have!!!! |
