 Blue Eyes CAT SAFETY BIKINI COLLAR-ADJUSTABLE & BREAKAWAY By: Bikini Collar Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 14 More Information Very nice collar, with one problem.  On: 2009-11-17One of my cats is semi-feral (taken from a feral colony as a 3 month old kitten). Perhaps because of that, she absolutely cannot tolerate a regular collar. I bought her one of these little collars, which she tolerated pretty well from the start. However, she did repeatedly pull it apart before she got used to it. The good news is, when caught, the collar pops open. The bad news is, when she recently caught it on something & it popped apart, the two pieces that click together broke---so the collar part was okay, but could no longer be fastened. Im investing in a second collar in hopes that she will not fuss with it & therefore it will last longer. If the makers could solve the problem of the catch, so it would pop apart but not break, I would happily give the product a 5th star & buy these collars for all my cats! Hands Down the Best Collar  On: 2008-09-10Hands down the best cat collar Ive found to date! My cat and I came to a resolve when she insisted on being an outdoor cat... a collar. I was using various basic collars until I noticed that she was losing fur around her neck. Other times I found crust (as if she scratched it or it rubbed her to rough). Since I spoil her with everything I figured it was time to find the best collar too. Checked [...] and other places and everyone seemed to have collars with hip designs but nothing really to help the irritation if wearing a collar 24/7. This is the collar I have been looking for. It is light and durable. It doesnt tightly wrap around her neck but loops around with the id tag sitting loosely on her chest. It has the breakaway feature so my little huntress doesnt get caught in anything while on the run. I bought 3 more. The Red with blue white speckle is adorable. :) Her fur is growing back and she is at her happiest... and I have one less thing to worry about :) P.S.: There have been complaints on other reviews about the collar not breaking away - they fixed that some time ago so it snaps off easily. GREAT BUY On: 2008-07-28I bought this collar and the "SUNSHINE YELLOW" one as well for our middle-sized cat and tiny-necked kitten. at the smallest size, it fit the kitten at 14 weeks old (about 5 inches diameter). they expand easily, and people often remark about how neat they are; you can hardly notice the collar itself, only the tags, which I attached to a different ring. they can be jingly if you use multiple rings. I wish there were more color choices, but thats not a big deal since they blend into our cats fur. Years of use; great product! On: 2008-06-09I have purchased several of these collars for different cats over the years, and as gifts for my friends cats. I have one active, outdoor cat who has had his red bikini collar for almost 4 years, and it still looks great. When it gets dirty, I toss it in the washing machine, and viola! It looks like new. The sturdy nylon and round profile keep it looking good through many scratching and grooming sessions. Only one of my cats has ever broken one -- she caught it on a tree branch and it broke away, as expected, and I fount it hanging there the next day. Its wonderful for long-haired cats, since it doesnt mat the fur. The best part is, it fits kittens at about 8 weeks of age. For the price, you cant beat this collar. Cute but not well made  On: 2008-01-28I ordered 3 of these collars. I followed the instructions to open the collar (pulling it apart where the safety release is). One end of the collar broke away from the safety release rendering the collar useless. The other two were equally as hard to break away and the adjustable tabs are round pieces of metal with a piece of the collar tucked inside. A cat could get a claw caught in there when scratching its neck. SIZE MATTERS On: 2007-07-07I am very pleased with the product and speed of delivery. The only problem is that these collars fit very nicely on small to medium cats. I have one larger cat that the collar would not fit and therefore can not order an additional one for her. this collar fits kittens too! On: 2007-06-16Ive been looking for a "safety" type collar for our two eight-week-old kittens, but havent been able to find one that adjusts small enough to stay on them. I saw these online and figured that it was worth the risk of loosing ~$3.00 apiece if they didnt work. But, they do work very well. Now our kittens can roam the house and we can hear where they are. My only "complaints" if you could call it that, is that they dont come with a bell (so you have to buy a seperate one) and that the collars dont come in green, but nothings perfect. (I bought an extra just in case one of the cats lost one.) I thought the colors were great, and I was happy with the idea of the material, as opposed to cheap vynil. They do look fashionable, I think, and are discreet enough to not take away from the beauty of the cat itself. However, these collars are NOT "breakaway" collars. They enlarge if they get caught on something, but this actually only adds its own problems. Several times my cats came home with one leg through the collar (and the collar extended as far as possible). I hated to think what would have happened if the cat had gotten the collar caught on something AFTER getting the leg stuck. One cat finally did come home without his, and I didnt replace it. Another came home with the collar around her chest (both front legs had gone through), and it was constricting her. I pulled to try to get it off, but it was obviously very painful, and in the end the only solution was for me to cut it off. I decided these collars are not very safe after all--too bad I bought six at once (the reviews at the time were pretty good, generally). Ive taken them all off, and now my daughters can play with them on their stuffed animals. They look do look cute! I just dont trust them on live animals. Not so safe.... Functional, cute & cheap On: 2007-01-23I have one cat that I could NOT keep in a collar. I bought several different types with buckles and clasps which would be off in under a day. Not this one! Either because its so light and thin so he doesnt notice it, or because of the fastening system--this one has stayed on! It may be a bit unimpressive to look at, but its cord design fits cats thin necks. I do recommend this collar as an excellent buy and innovative design. My only warning is to watch when you open the package! I had to buy this item twice, because the first time I opened the package with scissors and the collar itself was situated at the very tip of the package. Ooops! recommend against it  On: 2007-01-11I wasnt happy with this collar. First, I hadnt realized just how thin it would be -- I wanted small and lightweight but this is hardly wider than a rubber band. But more importantly, I think the way it adjusts for size is dangerous. When I put it on one of my cats, the extra length wouldnt tighten sufficiently so there was a gap, which she managed to get her lower jaw hooked into, so that the collar was stuck half around her neck and half in her mouth. I took it off and threw it away. Fortunately, since its so inexpensive, I didnt throw away a lot of money. Also, the metal pieces where the size adjustments are made are not terribly smooth -- you might not want those rough bits of metal against your cats neck. Was skeptical, but not anymore! On: 2006-11-30I was worried that these collars would somehow allow them to choke because they dont "break away", they open. I thought that maybe they wouldnt open or maybe the ring would get caught, but so far they havent. With other break away collars, my cats would maybe have them on for 1-2 days and then they would be lost to the woods never to be found again. They have had these for almost a week and they have not lost them yet nor have they snagged or loosened at all. Plus the cats cant get them off like they could the other break away collars and its so small in width that it hasnt matted there hair. A wonderful product and I would definitely reccommend to anyone who has a problem keeping collars on their cats. At a couple of bucks a piece, you cant beat it. Blue Eyes Cat Safety Collar On: 2006-11-10My son and I, both, thought the picture of the collar we saw online was cute (for our playful, male cat!), then I read one of the reviews that stated... their collar kept coming undone, so I really wasnt sure what to do?! I figured, for $2.00, what would it hurt... so I ordered the collar. When we put the collar on "Snowy," he didnt know what to do (he just had to get used to it)! After a day or so, he quit worrying about it and left it alone. I cannot begin to tell you what an active, vivacious kitty we have on our hands... and smart, too=) If any cat is going to get that collar (or any collar) off, it would be Snowy!!! Weve had the collar for 2 1/2 months now, and... NO PROBLEMS! He hasnt gotten it caught on anything and hasnt tried to take it off, nor has it ever come off on its own! We are VERY IMPRESSED with the quality, craftsmanship and price ($2.00?????) of this product and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT to anyone with a kitten or cat, even the most active of the group! It performs just as the Amazon description shows. It is unintrusive and snaps off when certain force is exerted. Its fun, too, because of the colors, and affordable. good service On: 2006-08-17I was pleasantly impressed with the simple design of this collar. Though it is a cool blue colour, I can usually spot our cats in the dark. I {mistakenly} did not recieve my order (it was a different order i was expecting), and they rushed me another collar. It is good to receive that level of support through eccomerce.. I do recommend this product and national leash as a seller.. J. CO |
