 Bergan Aut-O-Dine 25, Colors Vary By: Bergan Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 21 More Information Great outdoor feeder  On: 2010-05-09Perfect for an outside feeder. In our old feeder, his food would get wet and become a soggy mess. With this one, the food is protected from the rain by the gray panel on the front of the feeder. The dog pushes the panel open with his nose. We hung it from a wood bar to make it the right height for him (hes a St. Bernard mix); the feeder has mounting holes in the back. I had to show him that his food was behind the panel (I showed him a treat and then put it in the feeder) but he caught on pretty quickly. He looks very proud of himself when he pushes it open! The reserve chamber is fairly large so I dont have to refill it very often. Mostly did the job  On: 2009-11-05I bought this because we had a problem with birds coming onto the patio to eat the dogs food. I purchased this so that we could eliminate the bird "droppings" on our patio and patio furniture. The droppings have diminished, but it has taken time for the dog, a black lab mix, to learn to use the door. I figured it would be no problem because he uses a doggie door with no problem. I was wrong. Little by little we are training him to use the door. auto dine 25  On: 2009-11-05This unit works fine unfortunately my dogs keep knocking it over, I watched both of them feeding and noted that the access door is low and would work well for small dogs, so to make it work for my dogs I have had to put on bricks.Also the capacity is less then 25lbs great product On: 2009-10-15Solved my problem of being away from home for several days at a time. I never worry that my dogs will run out of food and it is dry and bug free. Lolas dish On: 2009-07-01Product is keeping her food accesible, keeping birds and other small animals from getting into it, and is keeping it fresh. dog feeder works but needs shelter On: 2009-05-21The feeder works good, but I had to build a small building to keep it in. Rain will splash into the door and the food becomes rotten and my dog will not eat it then. The dog feeder cost about $30+/-, but the shelter took me 2 days to build and cost $150. It is bilt well. The only thing that would have been nice is if I could have purchased a dog feeder shelter to keep the rain off the door and gave me access from the top, obviously it would need to be anchored to the ground. I used concrete. Convenient dog feeder On: 2009-02-05Convenient dog feeder, although my dogs are older and not use to pushing open a door for food so I have it held open with something. It is in my garage so I dont have to worry about the weather. It holds a whole bag of dog food so they have food everyday. They dont over eat like other dogs may. The most I like is, since food is always available they all get to eat, before I would feed them and the "Alpha dog" would eat as much as she can and not let the other two eat much. The lid was broke when I received it but they replaced it no problem. Great outdoor feeder On: 2009-01-28This is a great feeder to use outdoors. It keeps the food from getting wet unlike other available feeders. We had the same feeder before until it wore holes in the bottom. Reinforced feet on the bottom would make this feeder last much longer. Great Product! On: 2008-12-06I love this dog food feeder. It make life with a large dog just a little less complicated. Just remember to check the feeder daily the first month or two (checking it is so much easier than panning out food) so you get an idea of how fast yours will need to be refilled, and make sure its coming down the chute (had a problem with that only once). Doggie diner On: 2008-12-06Good product, I have used them for years, the lid could be built better but I use a brick on top. will feed my shepherd for a week or so! Perfect!! On: 2008-12-03This product is perfect. The shipping was very fast(thank you, BIC) and the price is great. A previous reviewer stated that it wont keep ants out, and that is obvious as nothing will. There is a remedy for ants, though. Just rub some vaseline around the opening where the food goes in and comes out. Ants cannot walk through vaseline. Bergan Aut-O-Dine On: 2008-11-09I bought this dog feeder to replace my old Bergan Aut-O-Dine feeder. I had my old one for about 7 years and it always stayed outside. This feeder holds a 20 lb bag of dog food and the only cute critter that can get at the food is my Lab. Not Weather-Proof But Works Well On: 2008-08-11You have to be careful where you face this feeder as the swinging door lets the rain in. But we use it in conjunction with the Bistro timed feeder on a covered porch and have good results on stay overs. Make sure your pet is not afraid of sticking its head into a close space, like our larger rescued Retriever mix. Also we found out that recluse spiders love to hide in the nooks and crannies, so be careful moving if it has been left more than a few days. It can be cleaned thoroughly with some difficulty by removing the door, top and internal baffle. Great idea.  On: 2008-07-13great idea but ants can still get in it and no matter how many times i have showed my dogs how to use it they are too stupid to use it! It paid for itself with the savings on dog food! On: 2008-06-13I love the Bergen Aut-O-Dine 25! I had a problem with pigeons and other birds flocking in my yard and eating the dogs food. I was buying at least two 50 pound bags of dog food a month and constantly cleaning bird dropping off everything. I tried all sorts of scare tactics (decoys, irri-tape, etc etc) to chase the birds away from my poochs food but nothing worked and I unwillingly paid lots of money to keep the pigeons fat. Then I bought the Bergen Aut-O-Dine 25. I secured it to the fence and filled it with dog food, then showed poochie that his food was easily accessible to him inside the flap. It didnt take him long to get used to it and now hes happy because his food is there and not inside the neighborhood birds, and Im happy because my dog food bill has dropped drastically! I set the Aut-O-Dine on up cinder blocks to make it a more comfortable height for the dog (hes big!). Instead of two or three 50 pound bags a month Im down to two bags every three months. This unit has paid for itself already with what I save on dog food, PLUS since there arent hoards of birds hanging around anymore I dont have the droppings problem either! The dog doesnt run out of food, the yard is cleaner and Im saving money all because of the Bergen Aut-O-Dine. I highly recommend this product!! Excellent design. Very Sturdy. On: 2008-04-19This dog feeder was exactly what I was looking for. It provides my dogs with food for more than a week, allowing me to go on trips without having them boarded or having a neighbor checking in on them every single day. It is easy to fill and it keeps the food very clean and dry. I used one screw to hold it flush against the side of my porch and it has not budged, even in winds exceeding 50 mph. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a large feeding solution. I don't see what's so great about it. On: 2008-01-12I wanted to purchase a timed dispenser so that my dog wouldnt gorge himself while I was away but didnt want to spend a fortune. I couldnt find any timed dispenser that I thought were reasonable so I settled for this item because it had such great reviews. Prior to going out of town I showed my dog where the food was and had him eat out of the dispenser. I went out of town for one day. When I returned I discovered that my dog had not eaten. He was afraid to put his head inside the unit. I propped the door open thinking that it would help train him. After he ate the food that was in the bottom no additional food fell down. The dog food was average sized. Perhaps this isnt the best feeder for some dogs especially playful labs that are known for overeating. The product appears to be well made and intelligently designed, however my dog doesnt like it. Still The Best...... On: 2007-10-24I bought this feeder for two eight-week old Chow Chow puppies in 1996. The feeder worked great...they quickly learned to self-regulate, never overate or competed for food because it was always available. The original feeder is just now wearing out, starting to split around the upper edges from being outside in all kinds of weather for 11 years, so Im here to buy a new one for my Chows and 2 adult German Shepherds. The feeder holds 25 lbs., so you refill less often than with small gravity feeders. All four dogs use the same feeder. There is no fighting over food, no hassle, no mess. Great product!!! My dogs were nearly a year old when I brought them from the pound. At first I was worried that they would pig out, however, I did want the freedom from daily feedings. Once they figured out that the food is there whenever they want it, they settled right down and eat without gorging. They never fight over food and seem to eat on their own schedule. On: 2007-01-16The Aut-0-Dine I thought I was getting was supposed to have an area at the back to store food for future filling. The unit I got did not have this space. Automatic Dog Feeder On: 2006-08-27It is the best, once you teach your dogs to eat out of one you never have to worry about bugs or birds in there food again. |
