![]() Oster 78005-010 Golden A5 Single-Speed Clippers By: Oster Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 71 More Information Oster A5 should be recalled The A5 dual speed would have been a fine piece of equipment if not for a cooling vent design flaw. Im amazed that nobody caught this in their product testing department. Many, many references about the problem are in the net. This clipper BURNS. It burn YOU. It overheats to the point of not being useable. To try and get the thing open to clean the tiny, ill placed air filter is a chore. Amazing that there hasnt been a recall or class action lawsuit. Oster 78005-010 Golden A5 Single-Speed Clippers Very efficient clippers. Great on thick coats. Fast, stays cool. If youre new to using clippers, be careful not to cut too close to the skin. Comes with a 10 blade. Recommend purchasing other size blades to accommodate different coats. I prefer a 4 blade on the thick curly coat of my Cockapoo. great dog clipper I have a black lab.. and the groomer charged me $60 (excluding tip) to shave her down for our hot louisiana summer. hair came back in about 1 month, so I ordered this clipper in the hope of doing the job myself. clipper is quiet and efficient. cuts through hair like butter. no need for extra blades because the included blade is perfect for the job. even trimmed my wifes little shi tzu and neither dog complained from cuts, pulls or clipper noise. just sat there and got clipped. a little wd-40 and the clipper is ready for the next trim. buy with confidence.. I agree, this is junk All the previous comments agree with our experience. Sometimes it cuts, usually it doesnt. Repeated trips to repair services, and frequent blade sharpening (every third clip of a small dog) and it still doesnt work. Do not buy an Oster. Theres something fundamentally wrong in the engineering. It makes a lot of noise, scares the dog, burns your hand (yes, it gets awfully hot) and fails in its basic purpose. Question: Does anyone know of a better clipper? Weve taken to buying cheap Wahls from Walmart (about $30) and tossing them when the blades get dull. I dont like doing that, but its our only solution short of frequent $50 grooming bills at the salon. Always Dependable This is the 2nd Oster clipper we have used, our last one we had for 20 years and used it on our 2 Cocker Spaniels, now we are using this new one on our new Cockerpoo. It it is a very dependable, and worth your money clipper, plus buying it from Amazon we were able to get a very reasonable price and delivery was very fast as they promised. Positve results - Oster 78005 Positive results with Oster 78005. Works fast and smoothly. We have a scotty and trim most of him short. Speedy Gonzales It trims the hair pretty fast, but it gets hot too fast. And if it had a comb attachment, that would help a lot. It gets really close & I like that part of it. Solid clippers, quick delivery The clippers arrived in the mail quicker than expected. They were brand new and came with all required information. The clippers work expertly. Awesome We Have a Golden Doodle and A Cocker... Before we plunged into making this purchase we were using cheaper models that just gave out and died. The Blades and quality of this product are Excellent. It takes half the time to cut their hair now and they dont seem to mind as much. Worth it! great clippers I got these for my aussie mix who has a lot ot hair. I bought the set of combs...that was a waste. They would not go through his hair. Thought this was pricey but 2 trips to the doggy salon would pay for this, so not so bad. So far cuts great. After a while it does get a little warm. OSTER PRODUCTS HAVE AN EXTREMELY SHORT LIFE SPAN!!!! Disappointment after disappointment after disappointment. I have tried many of their products and soon after the warranty ended, they all end up in the same place....in the garbage can! at last!!! i have 4 dogs.. 2 huskies, 1 papillon and a mixed breed dog (yorkie/chiguagua) and i live in an island.. very HOT island and i like to keep them shaved down so they dont get a heat stroke because they are all very hairy .. ive been looking for a clipper good enough for all hair tipes and i found it in this one!! III LOOOVVVEEE IT!!!! its a bit pricey but considering i had been spending so much on groomers its perfect!!! nothing will make me part with my oster clippers!!!!!!!!!!! works very well This is a very nice product that really does its job. I have a bischon & her coat can become matted & difficult to cut. This will go right through it with no problem at all. It does cut very close. Basically it shaves right down vey close to the skin. It does not cut the skin. If you have a dog with a lot of matting this is for you! You may want to purchase a different blade it you would like to leave their coat longer. The blades are expensive. Around $25.00 or more a piece. I ordered the #4 blade that was recommended for a bischon & was very disapointed with it. It would not even penetrate her coat. I am returning it for a refund. I gave 4 stars because it does seem to get hot quite often & needs to cool down. I was able to finish in 2 hours & thats with a dog who does not like to have her hair cut & that also includes the time to do trimming around her face, ears & feet with a scissors. All in all I would recommend this product. Owner ,Hairdesigner As a owner & hairdesigner of a hair salon for more than 25yrs,Having experience with other Oster clippers, I definetly reccomend these clippers. They barley get hot & they go through my Cavachons hair like nothing. They are not that loud either.I have always used Oster brand clippers in my career for hair. My choice would be the Golden A 5 single speed clipper as a dog groomer also. But just a fair warning,These are professional& powerful clippers,so for those of you who do not have much experiance, these clippers might be to much. it`s realy Like a Warm Knife through Butter very good clipper for my Persian cats , but it`s hurt or injury them when i use it on interior specially on they breasts . First time ever clipping a dog ... great We have a very hyper Jack Russel... she sat still the whole time .. .and even though I had never done this before I was able to clip her and it looked great. Nice and easy to handle. Get it now I love this clipper. Im sure the term "like a hot knife through butter" has already been used in another review of this product. But, as someone who has had other clippers before, I cant resist using it here. This was the third clipper that I have purchased. I have a 65 pound retriever mix (pound puppy so were not quite sure). She has pretty long thick hair. The first clipper I purchased was a $30 clipper from the pet store. It didnt even cut her hair. I then bought an $80 clipper and a separate $40 blade for it. That clipper worked. But, it still took me about 45 minutes to an hour to completely clip her. And, I kept having to go over the same areas over and over again. I hadnt wanted to spend the money for the more expensive clipper. And, since I only cut her hair once every couple of months, didnt think I needed to. After cutting her a couple of months ago though I decided to check into a better clipper and Im glad I did. The clipper is maybe a little louder than the cheaper ones you can buy. But, its not so loud that it scares my dog. The clipper is a little hard to hold because its bigger than the ones Ive had before and the shape is not exactly ergonomic. The body is metal and gets a little warm in your hands. But, this is all worth it for the way it works. It simply cuts the hair with no hesitation at all. I didnt time it when I cut her hair the first time with this clipper. But, Im sure it cut my time at least in half. My only complaint about the clipper is the cheap ones I bought came with a case to hold them and the accessories. This "professional" model doesnt come with a case. The owners manual was a little daunting too with instructions about how to change some internal parts (brushes) and lubricating (greasing) the internal workings of the clipper. The other home models I had before had no such maintenance necessary. My guess though is that this clipper is maintainable because it will be used by professional groomers cutting multiple dogs/day. My hope is this will last me years cutting once every month or every other month and I wont have to take it apart to maintain it. At the price Amazon had this for when I bought it, it was a no-brainer. I dont know if its because its an older model. But, the price is way below the retail price and just about what I paid for the prior clipper I had with the "stay cool" blade that comes with this one. If you are thinking about upgrading your clipper, I think youll be happy you did. If this is your first one, dont mess around like I did and waste about $150 on two prior ones. Just get this one. Great! Love these clippers! I read all the reviews on here and then decided to go with these because they were recommended for animals with tough hair. My cat was beginning to get mats under her fur and I was nervouse I wouldnt be able to get through them, BUT DID!! With great ease too! It took time to do all her hair and the clippers didnt get too hot with all the time it took to do our entire cat. My cat is pretty skiddish and she was fine with the "noise level" of the clippers too which made it easier to do. Now my cat walks around happy and free from her cage of hair! Much cheaper too than going to the groomers (will pay for itself in 2-3 uses). Love this product! great clipper After suffering through two people in this small town who thought they were "professional" animal groomers, one of whom cost me a 90 dollar trip to the vet to have my dog shaved down completely, I decided to buy these clippers and do the dog myself. I hesitated for a long time before finally getting down to business. It couldnt have been easier. Although I sheared him like a sheep, I never nicked him once, unlike the "professional" lady who cut a strip down the middle of his back and gave up because she said her clippers wouldnt cut through his matted fur. She not only nicked him and drew blood on his back but clipped a toenail too short and drew blood there also. I wont cut him so short the next time and will perfect trying to make him look good instead. The first groomer said he was not used to cutting small dogs and said his blade had to be taken and sharpened. All I have to say is if these so-called "professionals" had this clipper they wouldnt have any problem masquerading as groomers. He has long silky very fine hair and these clippers with the blade supplied (a #10 I believe) cut through it like butter. They didnt get too hot and they are a little heavy (read sturdy) and it took me 2 hours because I had to take frequent breaks for his and my sake. After about 3 haircuts I will have made my money back for these clippers. Great pet clippers for cats I use these to trim my 2 long hair cats in the summer. It works great, but does run hot after about 45 minutes of continuous use. The cutting is superb, with no problems to speak of yet. Works better than anything I have tried I have a long haired cat who has very thick fur and past attempts at shaving him has required doing it over several days and a struggle with getting the shaver to work on his hair. Even a professional groomer had difficulty but in an attempt to avoid further headache I decided to try this shaver and lo and behold it took me minutes to trim the cat instead of days. I also have shih tzu and it was a breeze to do her also. The shaver does get hot and frequent additions of cooling spray are required if using it for long. That is really not too much of an issue since we experienced the same thing with all previous shavers and the groomer also had the same problem when cutting our cat using her very expensive tools. Bottom line, I am very happy with the product. It was easy to use, it cut very nicely and my pets are happy as a result. None of us are dreading grooming day anymore. WELL worth the price! I just bought this item today and have already used it and LOVE how well it works! I have 3 Shelties. They need a lot of grooming due to their heavy undercoat that sheds almost constantly. Sometimes when I have brushed them I wonder where the other 12 dogs went because that is how much hair that will come off them. They can get matted very easily and that is what I used this clipper for on the 3 of them today. They get very matted on their back sides under their tails and scissors will just not do the job and trying to comb them out back there isnt pleasant for me or them. I wasnt going to waste money on wimpy under-powered trimmers and I was not disappointed with this one at all. It went through their very thick under-coat like it wasnt even there. Having this done at a professional groomer would have cost me around $100 per dog, so this already saved me money today. The A5's are to clippers what the Pinto was to automobiles. It is critical to notice that none of the reviews for the Oster A5 were conducted by people who have owned the clippers for more than a few months. Having used them to clip several cats over the summer, I have spent hours of frustration fighting them. They become hot quickly, and cooling them down requires 20 minutes of non-use. You maybe have 6 minutes of clipping interspersed with 20 minutes of cooling. This is uniquely frustrating because you must hang out with an aggrevated cat while suffering from cat hair envelopment. Clearly, they are American made. Only lazy, socialist, union-loving Americans could get away with producing such a low quality product. Hot Knife through Butter A long haired stray cat has adopted us for now. She has long matted hair. It took seconds to painlessly shave the thick hard matted hair off. This was more humane than trying to comb or cut the hair. She actually seemed to appreciate this. I would highly recommend these sheers. What Fur ? Good clipper, good price. We needed a clipper like this to cut the coat on our Siberian Husky, fur so dense that ticks cant make it to her skin and starve before getting there. All joking aside, we needed a clipper that could shear sheep and this one did the trick on our Huskys coat. She was a little nervous at first because its a tad noisy but once she noticed she felt cooler -- no problem. I gave her a buzz cut except for her face & tail and did it in 1/2 hour vs the 2 hour ordeal of our old clipper. Well worth the cash-ola! Cooler in minutes These shears made short work of our dogs too long hair. She was breathing easier in minutes, and mostly taking it all in stride. Only the noise bothered her, and it was not really intrusive. She looked pounds leaner iside an hour, a good time record for this medium-sized dog being handled by an amateur barber! I heartily recommend these Oster shears. Not So Great! I decided to purchase this clipper after looking at the reviews. I was very disappointed considering the cost I expected a much better product. The clipper gets hot within approximately 10 minutes. It also does not cut great either. Good clippers for fine Persian cat fur Weve been paying $90 per quarter to have the cat groomed (shaved) because its just not possible to brush him enough to prevent hairballs and as his coat grows, you find dust bunnies everywhere, even right after vacuuming. We decided to make the jump to DIY cat grooming with these clippers after reading the other reviews. We found: 1) The cat groomers definitely earn their money (which I knew before) 2) Its a much easier job with 2 people, one to hold the cat and one to run the clippers 3) These clippers work very well on the wispy superfine fur, although I had to keep brushing fur out of the comb blades or else the comb pulled instead of cutting. 4) These clippers dont make a buzz that the cat objects to although he still wasnt very happy with trimming the fanny fur and tail area. 5) The black plastic Oster Professional 10 Universal Comb Set, which was recommended for purchase with these clippers, doesnt work well at all on wispy cat fur. It either doesnt cut or catches and pulls (which makes for a very unhappy cat). Instead, the blade that comes with the clippers worked much better alone except for the frequent need to brush the fine cat fur out of the teeth (see #3). These clippers came with a #10 comb leaving the cats fur at about the length of teddy bear fur. I like that better than shaving down to the skin because it reduces the chances of nicking his skin or irritating the skin by cutting too close. I cant say he liked it, he never does, but thats why the vet told us to give him valium before grooming (talk to your vet before trying it). I think the cat is less bothered because he didnt have to get carsick going to the groomers or get all macho over the other male cats at the groomers. Now were through and the fur filled the bathroom trashcan. With one more grooming, we will have made up the cost of the clippers. After that, well save $360/year + gas + tip and we dont have to schedule a whole Saturday around it... definitely one of our better purchases. Saved me a FORTUNE! I have 2 maltese dogs who tend to get matted hair. I like to cut their hair about 3/4 to an inch in length and was using a cheap 20.00 clipper set. I couldnt get through their hair at all and it was taking me hours to clip them. I was hesistant on spending sooo much money on dog clippers but considering I had 2 dogs and groomers cost 40 bucks a pop, I figured I would give this a shot. These clippers are FANTASTIC. They cut through anything. They also reduced my cutting time on my dogs by about 45 minutes. No more mats getting stuck in the clippers and me pulling at it and my dogs yelping. The ONLY cons are this does NOT come with the black comb clipper guard attachments so if you want to cut your dogs hair different lengths, you need to pick up a set. Ive used them 4 times so far on both dogs which would have cost me 320 bucks in grooming costs. It was a 20 minute drive to the groomer to drop the dogs off and then a 20 minute drive home. I can now cut each dog in 20 minutes with these clippers. They pay for themselves and save you a TON of money and time. pretty good clippers These clippers do the job pretty well. The #10 blade cuts so easily. It is kind of loud though. My dog was a little freaked out by it. For trying to cut her hair myself, it did a great job. It cuts the hair verrrrrry short, like right to the skin. I will probably have to get another blade for cutting in the winter. Dog Clippers I love it, my little dog is happy to be groomed at home. Win win all way around Geat product, I am sooooo Happy I bought a pair of dog clippers at Walmart for like [...] bucks and they just couldnt "cut it" with my dogs thick hair so after reading reviews on several different types of clippers, I decided to go with these. I must say, I am so glad I did. I took them Right out the package and did in 15 minutes twice as much as what it took me over 1hr with the 40 dollar pair. Boy does my bear feel much better, even though they are louder than the cheaper ones, probably cause they are more powerful, my dog did not mind it. But I did have a hard time getting him to sit up as he loves being clipped so much that he will just lay down and go to sleep on me during the process, (not due to him getting tired cause he hasnt sat there long enough to get tired) guess it relaxes him. All I have to do is plug up and turn on and he is right there ready, they didnt get as hot As I thought they would with the way some of the reviews stated, I thought they were rather easy to handle, and I am by far not a professional groomer at all. I did Think they were great, awesome, and WOW!!! great to shave cats, but a bit loud I bought these after reading the good reviews. I have 4 long haired, double coated cats that are shedding like crazy, so I decided to shave them. 3 of the 4 sat there and tolerated it really well. The other took a little more firm restraint, but still no drugs needed. Each cat took about 20 minutes. The clippers cut REALLY well and quick. I only shaved their bodies, leaving the tail head and legs long. I left the bellies a bit longer so that I wouldnt risk cutting them. Well worth the money, and my cats are SOOO happy now...running around like kittens again. They are indoors only, wouldnt recommend it for outside cats. The only negative is they are a bit loud, and get hot after about 20 minutes, so you have to allow time to cool. Be careful not to burn your pet! Excellent Clippers! After struggling with other clippers, I was so pleased to find a clipper that actually shaves through the many layers of hair my yellow lab has. Shaving time was drastically reduced which was great for myself, but more importantly, my restless dog. I am so happy to finally have found clippers that work... you cant go wrong with these! Warning though, these do cut right down to the skin, so Id recommend ordering the attachments for a longer cut. It's OK I wasnt aware that I had a favorite brand, until I wanted to upgrade to a higher RPM clipper. I decided to try the Oster Golder Single Speed and was sadly disappointed. I have an Aussie and it did NOT cut her hair. I had to apply a lot of pressure to get the hair into the blade and most of the time it glided over it and didnt cut at all. I had to go over the same area repeatedly and it was still left patchy. It was fresh out of the box, oiled and ready to go, so I am not sure why it wasnt working for me. I was not loud, but it is awfully heavy, which when you get a better motor that happens. It got hot after about 15 minutes of continuous use, which I find to be about the average with any clipper. I returned this clipper and got the Andis AGC single speed clipper for a lot less and it has performed more to my expectations. It evened out areas that the Oster missed and went through the hair "like butter" like butta cut quickly and smoothly, didnt have to go over the same spot twice, didnt have to clean out during clipping session at all. Yay. The time youll save is worth the money spent Great!!!!!!!!!! This is the best set of pet clippers I have ever owned. Well worth the price. I should have gotten them sooner. It's a great Clipper The clipper is a little heavier than all the one I owed before but it does a wonderful job. The Clipper does getting hot after 15 minutes. But over all, I do recommend this product. Like a Warm Knife through Butter It took a minute to get used to the speed of this clipper, but its my first clipper ever, so that doesnt mean much perhaps. The Schnauzers look great though and grooming was so much easier on all of us relative to a day at the grooming salon. Its more than paid for itself. If I can use this clipper anyone can! You Get What You Pay For Im extremely glad I finally took the plunge on the price of a better quality product. My mini schnauzer and I are much happier--the clippers glide through her hair with minimal strokes; although a little chunky to hold, theyre still quite easy to manuever; its much quieter with less vibration and heat than my cheapy old pairs (yes pairs-[knock] I shouldve had an a-5!); most importantly, my pup looks gorgeous! Great clippers, easy to use. I purchased these to trim my Shih Tzu puppy on a regular basis since she wasnt ever comfortable with groomers. The blade cuts through her hair easily and the set isnt very heavy. I fully recommend these clippers! Great for really thick fur We own an aussie/shepard mix whose fur is extremely thick. A previous prof.clipper would take me hours and eventually burned out after a year. When I read that someone posted this cuts through fur like a hot knife cutting butter I had to try it. Well let me tell you this thing is POWERFUL!! In fact I was not expecting it to work that well and ended up taking my dogs coat down to a buzz by accident with the first pass!! Anyway, I evened her up and was done within an hour. I might look into another size blade for a longer cut. Found the device to be easy to handle, not too heavy or loud. Did not overheat. Highly recommend, worth the money. LOVE IT! FINALLY clippers that will cut through my aussies long fur and think undercoat! The clippers get warm and are a bit heavy, but its worth it given it took me 10 minutes tops to shave him down compared to an hour or more with my old ones. One of the Two Best The top-line Oster and top-line Andis clippers are the best, in my book. I actually prefer the Andis Andis Ultra Edge AGC Super 2 Speed Clipper because it has a more ergonomic shape, but the Oster is a terrific clipper. Both are rugged, reliable, and fully repairable. They take the same blades and accessories. You cant go wrong with this unless you have tiny hands. Works great! I have a Maine Coon and a long haired Tabby. Both have been impossible to cut with anything else. These clippers worked great and it was fast. Well worth the price considering what a groomer costs. Excellent product...great for grooming little dogs. I do my own dog grooming. This product is the perfect tool to assist in a professional looking job. I would highly recommend it. Outstanding This clipper is well worth the money. We have 2 large dogs and have already saved hundreds of dollars in grooming fees, while getting to spend good, quality time with the animals while we are grooming them. Easy to use and reliable product!! Pretty Good for First Set of Clippers Ever Owned After reading reviews on several different types of clippers and balancing the reviews with the price of the product, I decided to purchase the Oster Golden A5 clippers. I have 3 medium-sized dogs (a German Shepherd/collie mix, a black shepherd/lab mix, and a white lab mix...all rescues!), and I was going to have to pay at least $50 for each dogs summer haircut. So...for the $150 Id spend at the groomers, I decided to spend the same amount for my own clippers that I can use year after year. I also cut my long-haired cats hair, saving myself even more in grooming fees. Having never used any clippers before, I struggled a bit before finally learning to tilt the clippers at a certain angle. Once I learned that, it was soooooo easy! I will have to say, however, that these clippers are NOT quiet, although I cant compare them to any other brands. Even my long-haired cat, who is about 20 years old and nearly deaf, could hear the buzz! Every once in a while the clippers would stop cutting well and the dog hair would sort of tangle up in the blades, but Id just blow on the blades and they would start working well again. The unit got a bit hot, but nothing as bad as what I had read about for other clippers. I was able to shave down all 3 dogs, plus my cat, in one evening. Overall, I think these are good clippers and are worth the price. Our Dog only allows these clippers! Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R344Q3B672SKL4 Please excuse our dogs messy hairstyle, we were just documenting her first big haircut and hadnt thought about posting it as a review until later. Our Lhasa Apso is a non-shedding dog, so her hair will grow out to the floor unless trimmed. She used to go to the dog spa for $34 a trim! We tried other clippers to save money at home, but she wouldnt let us go near her with them, the sound freaked her out. These are truly the only ones she is calm with. Check out the video. She can handle about 5 minutes at a time, so we learned to do the hard parts first. These trimmers are very heavy, solid, and work great!!! They get warm but not hot, and I think that is ok. Theyre loud, but I dont know of any clippers that arent loud. We love this, it works for us, I have a hunch its going to last a really long time! Feels like great quality! Oster Golden A5 Clipper Over the past few years I have clipped my long-haired cat twice a year and each time had to buy a new set of clippers. The tedious task never took less than 3 hours, with the new clippers the entire task took less than an hour. Those clippers were one of the best investments I have made in a long time, Im sure my cat appreciates them too. Works well, once comfortable with using it My wife and I have "Missy", a long haired Black Persian cat. As owners of this breed well know, Persians are prone to develop big time mats if their coat is allowed to grow too long. Owners also become aware of how much it costs to pay groomers to deal with this issue; pet stores such as Petsmart charge $65 or more per session. We decided enough of that; we felt we could learn to do the job ourselves. We also felt Missy would be much more comfortable letting us handle her, rather than a stranger she had never seen before. We bought a set of Andis clippers for $36.99 from Foster & Smith. These were not up to the job-the mats were simply too thick, so we returned them. I decided to buy this item due its larger motor and the good reviews here on Amazon. In trying to find information about how to perform this task, we quickly discovered there is almost no reference material for the DIY cat groomer. Few books and no videos are available. We did find some stuff on YouTube, with people making movies of their cats being trimmed by groomers. This helped a little. In the end we decided to do it by trial and error. Having never tried it before, we went slowly to be sure not to catch the clippers on Missys skin (she has loose folds under her chin, legs, and belly, and one must also be very careful around the hindquarters/genital area). We went in stages over a period of three days, with the goal of trying to create the classic "Lion Cut" with all hair except the head, feet, and 3 inches of the tail trimmed down to about 1/4-1/2 inch or so. I did all the cutting while my wife held Missy firmly. With each session I got more confident, and was able to cut more hair without fear of hurting our kitty. The final result was not quite as good as a pro, but we did get all the mats off, and Missy is much happier now. The Oster A5 worked well; one must be sure to keep the supplied #10 blade close to the skin, but angle it slightly upward to avoid pinching or cutting the kitty. Often the mats will be very close to the skin, so the technique is to get under them-trying to cut directly through the mats pulls the cats skin, which is painful. I made sure to lubricate the blade with a drop of oil before each trimming, then cleaned it thoroughly afterwards. The Oster A5 did a good job for us once I developed confidence in using it. The one complaint I have is the fact that it does not come with a case or combs. I will soon be running over to Home Depot to get a small toolbox to hold the clippers and other cat grooming accessories. I will also be purchasing a set of combs (or "guards") to maintain Missys fur at a manageable length of 1" or so. The Oster A5 is a good item for the DIY cat groomer. If you want to give trimming your cat a try, just be careful and take your time. Remember to maintain your clippers properly. You can save a whole bunch of money-if you have the confidence to give it a shot... GREAT FOR MINIATURE SCHNAUZERS ! I have been clipping my two mini schnauzers with just a pair of scissors for years and pay $34 per dog at a grooming service in between haircuts. I tried Wahl clippers and they did absolutely nothing. It would take me a day to get them both trimmed with scissors but now only about two hours for both. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to save time and money and wants their dog(s) looking great. Thanks. Comes with a #10 blade My local pet store wants $90 to trim my Persian cat. For a little bit more I own the trimmer. Some people say to use a #7 blade for Persians but I did just fine with the #10 blade included with the clipper. This clipper is powerful and gets pretty warm when you use it. The body conducts heat to your hand. All things considered, Im pleased with the quality and craftsmanship of these clippers. Dont bother with 2 speed clippers because thats just one more thing to break and youll never use the low speed. Why didn't I buy this sooner? After using a wonderful hand-me-down Oster Lucky Dog clipper on my Australian Shephard/Lab mix (medium length hair, VERY thick coat), the clippers finally gave up and it was time to find another clipper. Since my dog has such a thick coat I did not want to purchase underpowered clippers and deal with the resulting frustration. I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase the Golden A-5 Single Speed Clipper with a #10 blade. After receiving the clipper I took my dog outside for her first trim with a new clipper. Her coat had grown about two inches since her last cut, and I was expecting to have a similar cutting experience to that of the Lucky Dog- I was not expecting what actually happened. I began to clip my dog, and the clipper really did go through her coat like a hot knife through butter- suddenly the 40 minute job (I have a squirmy dog) was cut in half- to be fair, it took 15 minutes at the most. The noise is not loud, and the dog did not seem to mind the clippers at all. (Her squirmy-ness has much to do with squirrels and birds visiting the yard, and not with clipping.) This is a wonderful product, and if it lasts as long as the Lucky Dog I will never need another clipper! Recommende for CATS ! U.S.A. MADE !!!!!!! by: Anonymous On: 2007-05-04 Recommended by my veterinarian for clipping Persian Cats I breed, I also highly recommend this clipper. It will clip off even severe Persian cat matting. It is to be used with Oster #7 Blade. (if you are interested in grooming hard to clip long hair and double haired cats, especially Persian cats. Again, Id like to mention it is Made In America ! |
