I chose this product (though more expensive than others) because it seemed to have very good reviews. Assembly: The assembly of the product was not too challenging. I did watch the online videos from the companys website which were helpful. There was some confusion as to which directions I should be listening to as apparently there are a few versions of the feeder, timer, etc. Cats reaction: My cat was initially afraid of the device. I am sure that the mechanical sound was a bit scary and she was timid about approaching the food dish. Once she realized that it would not make a sound any longer - she eagerly approached and ate. She was quick to pick up on the feeding times and generally waited in front of the feeder for the time when her food would be dispensed. **Important Note** There is no battery back-up on the feeder. And if the power goes out - your cat will not be fed. Also to note: Power did go out once and the feeder reset the feeding amount. Unfortunately, I did not think of this occurring, so the feeder dispensed twice the amount of food that my cat would normally get. I didnt notice the problem until my cat was getting heavy and lethargic. Overall: Great product which I am very happy with. Fantastic Innovation  On: 2010-08-12We wanted to provide our pet with a consistent feeding schedule since we are often not home at the same time each day. This amazing feeder is quite innovative in that it definitely delivers as advertised. It has taken care of one less chore that needs done twice a day in an easy manner. We just fill it with a bag of food and then forget it. Fresh accurately measured amounts of food are dispensed twice a day for our pets dining pleasure. Is our Pet spoiled? You betcha, He is so worth it. Even though it was quite expensive and a bit difficult to assemble, it was well worth it because it functions great! The Best Feeder On: 2010-06-25After my usual extensive pre-purchase research, I found this feeder on Amazon. The unit came packaged well, broken down into major component pieces. The assembly instructions sent with the package left a little to be desired, but the net-links to the video tutorial were spot-on. Assembly took about 1/2 an hour with a little fumbling with small screws. Once completed, it is a sturdy, clean looking machine. Once I powered it up, Fine tuning the feeder took about another 1/2 an hour. The unit has worked flawlessly ever since. I have a single adult cat which had some feeding issues before this purchase. She was fed on a schedule, twice a day because she instantly eats anything put into her bowl. About 1 hour before feeding time she would get very chatty and start scratching furniture to wake me in the morning. I now have the feeder set for 4 small, equal feedings throughout the day. The cat knows when feedeing time is, and no longer associates me with the action of feeding. She simply waits for the food to drop into the bowl. The large food hopper holds enough for almost a full month of hassle free food. Feedings spread throughout the day have given my cat more energy. She is more active and has trimmed down some extra weight in the few months since my purchase. She was instantly attracted by the sound of the food plinking into the stainless steel dish and will now shoot from any corner of the house at the sound of her "dinner bell". I am thoroughly convinced that this IS the best feeder money can buy. This feeder rocks! On: 2010-05-23We bought a superfeeder about 1 month ago. After 11 years of waking up in the middle of the night to feed our cats, now we get sleep! I set it for twice in the middle of the night and they dont wake us up anymore. My only concern was that they would try to tear it apart to get to the food, but they dont! Love it! Set it while were on vacation, too:) Easy to put together, too. Super-Feed superfeeder! On: 2010-01-22We purchased this feeder to put in the garage so we could take short trips. I purchased just before Christmas thru Amazon.com. This seller has outstanding customer service that I put up there with Les Schwab and DirecTV. I received several emails re: shipping options, in case I needed it before Christmas (turns out I did not). I also phoned them when I couldnt figure out how to set the timer and left a message. I received a return phone call at 6:30 PM PST that evening and talked to one of the owners. He helped me resolve the (operator error) problem. This is a very solidly constructed machine of steel and heavy duty plastic, and it works perfectly. I put it together in one afternoon using the pictures and instructions provided. There are lots of extra screws/fasteners provided. I adjusted the feeder mechanism to provide 1 cup of food twice a day for our 2 cats (sometimes 3 when a stray shows up). We feed our cats original flavor Meow Mix and the different sized/shaped pieces work fine in this machine. I think any dry cat food would work fine. I thought the hopper seemed a little small when I first saw it. Turns out it holds 40 cups of Meow Mix. On my feeding schedule of 2 cups a day that is 20 days of feeding! Right now I am watching to see if the cats can keep up with the 2 cups a day. I wasnt really keeping track before of how much they eat. Were taking a trip next month and Im looking forward to knowing my cats will have regular feedings and I wont have a pay for boarding or a cat sitter. To sum up, this is a first class product offered by a first class company. Both have surpassed my expectations, and the glowing reviews are well-deserved. Best feeder out there On: 2009-09-05Excellent feeder. My cat has defeated two previous feeders so I decided to spend the extra money and give this one a try. I should have bought this one first! I sometimes work long hours and my cat is, uh, big boned, so needs to have his portions controlled. This feeder was the perfect solution. I ordered the optional chute cover but Im not sure I really needed it. In any case my cat has not been able to defeat this feeder. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Excellent CONSISTENT, High Quality Feeder On: 2009-07-22Weve been through every automatic feeder there is. No, not just the ones on Amazon -- we also went through 2 "Perfect Pet Feeders" -- yes the $450 polished chrome thing you see online. Both units shipped broken with different problems, I wouldnt recommend that feeder to anyone. Nothing was working -- the cheapest feeder on Amazon was inconsistent and the first one shipped broken (wouldnt feed ever). What I liked so much about this feeder when I finally saw it was the *lack* of frills and the use of an external (replacable) timer unit. While we all like glitzy/expensive machines to do our bidding (especially me), I was so fed up with ultra-fancy, computer-controlled machines that never worked that the utter simplicity of this device really got me intrigued. NOTE: I was a bit turned off by the pictures of this, thinking there was going to be a lot of complexity with putting it together and wiring it up -- dont worry, its not complex. The pictures just make it look like some sort of electronic science kit. Its just as easy to put together as anything else youve ever bought that needed minor assembly. Anyway, we got the feeder, plugged it in, adjusted the size of the mouth (to match the food pellet size) and then the duration of the motor run-time (which determines how much food comes out with each feeding) and then on the dial-timer, set it to trigger the feeder every 3 hours. That was 6 months ago... weve never messed with it since and just make sure its filled with food every few weeks. The cats are happy and go running every time it turns on, were happy... everyone is happy. Absolutely recommend you give this one a try. Awesome Cat Feeder On: 2009-07-12We love this feeder and so do our cats!! They know the sound of the crunchie cat food hitting the metal bowl and they go trotting through the house to eat! My husband and I are routinely gone for 4-6 days at a time working as a pilot and flight attendant for a major airline. We lost our long time cat sitter and we discovered this feeder. It really has taken the worry out of us being gone for more than a day. The customer service is really the best I have ever seen and I am not kidding! You can shoot the owners an email, and you will have a very prompt response. GET THIS, it holds ALOT of food and you can adjust the time and amount of food. We highly recommend. automatic cat feeder On: 2009-05-21We totally love this thing. We have a cat who LOVES to eat and was constantly hanging out near his dish begging. The auto-feeder takes us out of the loop, he has slimmed down and , it dispenses as many times a day and as much as we want it to plus resets in a power failure. We left the cat home alone for 4 plus days and he was just fine. Highly recommend Perfect! On: 2009-04-14This is the first review Ive written on Amazon because I felt compelled to relate my experience with this product. I went straight to the super-feed.com website and ordered the combo deal #20 for $161.24, shipped. I received the item promptly and had it set up in about 30 minutes. Later, I bought < $3 in hardware and built my own stand. Some kind of stand is highly recommended. I loaded the hopper with Iams Weight Control cat food and programmed the digital timer. Iams cat food seems to be the perfect size and shape for the unit. It has worked flawlessly for a solid week. I did not purchase the guard that fits over the dispenser, and my cat has not figured out how to steal from it yet. If she does, Ill just buy the shield. Already Ive noticed my cat does not yell for her food in the morning and evening. She still comes around and makes a few polite inquiries just before meal time, but she is getting the idea that I no longer control when she gets fed. Its been great for our relationship. Now I can also leave town for long weekends without worrying about her. This is simply the perfect product for my needs! It worked! On: 2009-01-25Excellent - now my cat does not associate me with feeding time. I can walk into the kitchen without fear of tripping over the cat! It works well, I need to re-adjust the amount of food dropped each time, as Im over-feeding at present. Great Feeder On: 2009-01-24Two of our four cats have no control over their eating, and it has been a real struggle for us to have them eat the right amount of food. This feeder had really good reviews so we decided to give it a try. It has worked really well. The hopper allows us to go 2 weeks without filling and the timer that came with it allows us to do eight feedings a day. This company really concentrates on the details, starting with the packing. The box was very, very well packed. They didnt waste a single cubic inch of space. The feeder was easy to put together (although the instructions werent entirely clear in a couple of places) and it has worked very well. One word of caution. The stands back piece is high enough to strap down the main feeder, but not the hopper. It looked like the hopper would be supported OK, but our 6 pound kitten got curious and was able to tip it, causing the hopper to separate from the rest of the feeder. I extended the back support and strapped down the hopper and its fine now. So if you get the unit with the full hopper, get a chunk of 2x4 and extend the back so you can strap down the top of the hopper. Awesome On: 2008-08-03This is the best feeder ever. We purchased it from super-feed.com -- and they are very helpful and accommodating. We have NO complaints about this feeder. Fill it and forget it. Totally reliable. We have three cats -- and one overeats. This is just the ticket for regular feeding during vacations, so that one cat doesnt pig out. Takes a couple of hours to get it calibrated to the correct feed amount (very adjustable). Recommend getting your own timer -- cheaper -- but get one that has a battery backup so a few hours of power outage dont affect the time or settings. We replaced the SS bowl with a much wider flat plastic one (actually a takeout food container) -- so that all three cats can eat at once. We also tilted the bowl forward a bit, screwing it down to an inclined board, so that the food doesnt gather under the dispenser (causing the kitties to jostle each other, as well as the feeder). This is the first review Ive ever left -- typically this isnt my style but this is just too good not to recommend. Now my cats on a regular eating schedule with just the right amount of food for her, shes less anxious and "pesty" around feeding time, and I dont have to feel guilty if Im gone during her mealtime. Really great solution to healthy cat feeding On: 2007-04-06The CSF-3 quart superfeeder has worked out very well for me so far. It has made feeding my multi-cat household a controlled amount of food very simple. The cats no longer bug me for food because the feeders set schedule removes me from the equation. Now they just hang out by the feeder when they know food is on its way. Cats do really well with routines so this worked out perfectly. This is a great product for people looking to control their indoor cats weight without the hassle of having to be around for multiple small feedings. Works great as a vacation feeder too! I love it, its totally worth the investment considering how expensive and low-quality the other automatic feeders out there are. great purchase!! On: 2007-02-01I recently purchased one of these feeders and was amazed at not only how great the product was (top rate!!) but how great the customer service was. They were friendly and very willing to work with me. I would definitely reccomend this product and will continue to do business with them in the future. Best Feeder On: 2007-01-28This is a nice feeder. I happened to have purchased one a few years back. The super-feed company was very quick in answering a question that I had by e-mail within an hour or two! I think they are family owned so they appear to be "on top of things" when it comes to customer service and quick shipping. This feeder is by far the best in the world for feeding cats. What makes it so great is that you can calibrate how much food comes out at once with a volume control and the time cycle. I am amazed that I havent seen it in the big stores, although, this is the first time I have seen it on Amazon. I finally get to sleep without my cat waking me up! Considering what other reviewers have stated on other brands, I rank this feeder a 5 star! |
